Thank you I will keep you up too date I have had Ph testing done and all the DR Ive been too
have never given me an explination they just told me it is something that happens and normally meds fix I'm going too see this DR one more time I'm strongly considering a second opinion as this has been going on for 2yrs and I'm worried it has already done some permenant damage. Once again thnak you for your time and I will keep you posted
Oh ok...well u will not see instant improvement from removing just those 2 items....but they will continue to add to the problem.
B4 u consider surgery, I would ask this...have u had a PH test done? This is to make sure the issue is too much acid, bcuz too little acid u will feel the same way...the symptoms r the same....so testing is needed.
Since u were on antibiotics this too will mess with the way ur digestive system works...u may want to ask ur Dr about probiotics and see if they help.
I did not have surgery, but I know it has helped some and others r only worse post op...
U need to find out y u r having these issues .....like I know mine r bcuz of a hiatal hernia.
I can also keep mine under control with diet....and I only take meds when needed not on a daily basis ne more, so I have gotten better.
AS to can this cause perm damage- yes it can...the acids move up into areas they do not belong and create damage, this is y u feel a sore throat...this can erode enamel on teeth...it can affect the voice box.....
If ur GI dr is not working with u to find a med or solution then try another dr...but ask y u have these issues, not just accepting a RX to cover it up .
U may have a over build up of yeast....and that can cause these issues.
Let me know what ur Dr says

okay thank you and i was not saying alcohol and coffee are okay what i am saying is that regardless of weather i remove these from my diet or not my symptoms are still the same trust me i know i went a year without coffee and alcohol still no relief. Honestly it's been 2 years that I've been dealing with this sore throat and chest pain and as uncomfortable as it is I've learned to deal with it my main concern is weather or not it is having any permenate negative effects on my body. Once again thank you for your input it is greatly appricited and do you have any info on GERD surgey?
The antibiotics will cause the GERD to flare....
Check side effects for the meds u r on......
Not eating can cause reflux bcuz ur body needs to refuel and in attempts to get ready for the food, acids r produced whether u eat or not....if not, the acids r not used to break the foods down....they have no function, then u have more then what u need....
Not sure y u feel coffee or alcohol is ok, unless u also have silent reflux...which means u may not feel heart burn or typical symptoms after ingesting foods that u shouldn't, that does not mean it is not affecting u...u have a sore throat, that is ur symptom.

I've been to an ENT and I do have allergies and congestion which i take meds for and get no relief so it may be a combo of the two that are causeing the sore throat . I have been on antibiotics for the past two weeks could that make it work ? and why would not eating cause reflux? The thing i find odd is when i drink alcohol or coffee it doesnt seem too effect it and I appreciate all your comments .
Hi...did they check u for PND?..that could cause the sore throat and the GERD......do u have congestion?
Not eating will also cause the symptoms to flare...u have to eat, even if u drink the nutrition.....but try more meals like 4 or 5 smaller meals a day....
Were u on antibiotics?

Sorry about taking so long to reply the thing is everything trigers my gerd. For breakffest I'll have a glass of water and an apple and i still get gerd symptoms. I have tried all types of drugs and switching my diet my nothing seems too work. I'm sick of always having a constant sore throat and not being able to hold any food down and all the doc seem too do is switch my meds around which never seems too help I really just don't know what to do.
Hi
In my experience the answer is yes, GERD can cause those symptoms. It does with me and after 15 years I still can't rid myself of it - I've tried EVERYTHING and can't get rid of it, but do have some 'rests' when it's not too bad.
Hi...a hiatail hernia, post nasal drip, stress...all can cause GERD symptoms.
So u do have to modify ur lifestyle as well as ur diet.....
Brand Name Chemical Name
Tagamet cimetidine
Pepcid famotidine
Axid nizatidine
Zantac ranitidine hydrochloride
H2 blockers (also sometimes referred to as acid reducers or H2 receptor antagonists) are available in nonprescription and prescription forms. Prescription forms are stronger than the nonprescription forms.
I use pepcid...and have modified my diet and lifestyle...I now only need to take the meds if I am going to eat something on my avoid list...which I do not do often...like pizza.
U can control GERD once u know the root cause and watch ur diet.

hi sorry it it taking me so long too respond thanks for the input i have been on the aciphex for for over the year now with a combination of tums and other over the counter meds that seem too have no effect i have tried just about every ppi out there and none of them seem too work What are some examples of h2 blocker cause i'm not sure i have tried them and is there any other type of condition that could cause GERD thanks
There may be something in ur diet or life style that could be fueling the gerd... do u keep a journal?
How long r u on the aciphex?...Not all meds work for everyone...give it some time...8weeks or so, and if no improvement ask if u can try a diff med.
I was on and off PPI's for yrs, the last flare I went back on them and nothing...so my Dr put me on a H2 blocker instead and it works much better for me.
Good luck

I have had an endoscopy and ph testing which has proven it is gerd i am currently on aciphex twice a day and have tried just about every gerd me out there i really dont know what to do
Have u been tested for a hiatal hernia?
I too have GERD for a number of years now. It has worsened though, I think. I also feel short breath, pain on my shoulders and diaphram. I had an ultrasound of my tummy but found nothing. GERD is the culprit. my weight is ok, I don't have to lose much weight, 5 pounds would do. My diet is probably the problem. The doctor said, I have to eat in small but frequent meals. The trouble is I eat a lot during meals. I take omeprazole, before bedtime.
Hi...it is diet and lifestyle modifications that need to be made...not just diet....too many people feel if I do not eat this or that I will be ok...but, it is a lifestyle.

What meds r/were u on...how log r u on them?....
Try keeping a journal of what u eat, do, if u r stressed etc....to see if there is a pattern to ur symptoms.
U may want to go back to a GI dr to see if something else is going on with ur digestive track.....
