New here, Gerd questions

I was diagnosed for Gerd, But what I dont understand is my "trigger foods and my relief. I take dexilant, which seems to help on some days. For a fact I cant eat tomatoes or sauce, But i can eat pizza. Coffee will do it on an empty stomach, Donuts. Onions. even watermelon gives me heartburn sometimes, But thats really alkaline?

But here is the thing, When I do have heartburn. I can drink Tabasco sauce, ( a drop) or eat some Hot Red peppers and instantly my pain goes away after a couple of burps.  Tums rarely work. i dont think spicy food (besides chilli) has ever gave me heartburn.  Does this seem really odd?

Is Gerd caused by to much acid or not enough?

It is confusing.  I had an LES valve failure, and acid literally poured into my esophagus, burning my vocal chords and removed my tooth enamel in a week, no heartburn.  Medical tests prior to surgery showed very high acid content and the LES failure and I had a successful surgery.  I'd urge you to visit a specialist who can start to pinpoint the problem.  Good luck.

Yeah, Its instant as well. I have to been to my primary doctor who gave me dexilant, But if its to little acid then that medicine is making it worse, I have gained almost 20 pounds while starting that med.

I bought so High PH water today, 8.88, just to try that as well and it seemed to help quite a bit after a meal. So its odd that Acidy things such as vinegar help and Alkaline things like that water help as well. What really dont help much is Baking soda and calcium. But High ph water is due to the minerals in the water. so Its all confusing.

Sometimes very hot/acid products help.  I personally think that it is because hot peppers or Tabasco can simply stun the digestive system, at least it did my case.  That said, it isn't good in the long run.  I'd suggest you have a complete blood test and go forward from there with that with an investigation by an professional.
Pizza has tomato sauce, but it is cooked, but the cheese neutralizes the acid.  It is not easy to determine the cause of GERD, and be careful of quick answers on chat boards.  Best wishes
