Prevacid Packets - I heard they are no longer making the packets? Anybody

have any idea if this is true and why?  I loved the packets .. so easy to take along and mix with water.  I'm thinking the Solutab replaced the packets?

We tried Prilosec with my youngest after Zantac failed. She got much worse on the Prilosec, and then I figured out it has dairy lactose in it. We put her on compounded Prevacid, and suddenly she got better. She was dairy intolerant and I'm sure that the lactose bothered her. I've heard a lot of mom's say the same thing, even though their doctors tell them it's not possible. It's too bad that they aren't making the Prevacid powder packets anymore, because they were dairy-free.

I hope your little one feels better soon!

I had no idea they contained lactose!!!  hmmm ........continuing tummy pain....will have to give that some thought and talk to the dr!  That is why we always avoided prilosec.

Thanks for all the great info ... I am sure we will be referring back to it over and over again.  And, it clears up a ? I've had for quite some time trying to understand why so many formulations for the same med!

Funny, the big co's won't reveal the reasons .. I called my pharmacy and the Solutabs are actually less $ per mo. than the packets!

Yes, the discontinued making the powder packets. I called the company to find out why, and they actually couldn't (or wouldn't) give me a reason! The Solutabs are easy to use, but they contain dairy lactose which a lot of children with reflux react to because of a dairy allergy or intolerance.

Thanks ... I am going to ask about them @ our next visit.

How do they taste for older children?

my daughter uses the solutab, you cant really give a ton of water to an infant.  you could ask the pharmacist.  i think the tabs are easiest, just pop it in and they disolve.
