Question about gastroparesis and gerd

HI, I am a 27 year old female who was diagnosed with gastroparesis and gerd in 2007. I have been on 30mg of Prevacid daily for almost 4 years now and just recently have been having terrible symptoms again with gerd. I saw my GI specialist and he recommended I start taking reglan again because the gastroparesis might be causing the reflux. However, I am aware of the dangerous side effects of reglan and am wondering if I continue to take the prevacid daily without reglan, could I still develop Barretts esophagus if the prevacid is stopping all the acid production in my stomach?

Thank you so much for your advice. It's a very complicated condition and any advice is greatly appreciated. I will go to the health food store and try the remedy nux vomica and also see if I can purchase the domperidone at the website you gave me.Thank you again for your help :)

i have GP too, never tried reglan but domperidone worked pretty well for me and is extremely safe.  inhousepharmacy.com has it for very cheap.  also, there are herbs like ginger and shatavari that improve speed of digestion as well if you want to go natural.  my biggest help has honestly been either homeopathy (try the remedy nux vomica) or hypnosis/visualization.  and my personal opinion is that acid blockers are absolutely terrible for your stomach and digestion in the long term.  you're just shutting down another piece of your body's process of breaking down food.  for people with digestive issues, you usually need MORE digestive juices and acids to help pre-break down food.  try some digestive enzymes and maybe betaine hcl if your stomach can handle it.
