Sudden worsening of GERD

I have been on medication for GERD for about 5 years now and it is usually manageable as long as i take the daily dose.  For about 5-6 days now i have had moderate chest pain beginnning generally mid-afternoon.  Initially, i thought i just needed an extra pill which occasionally happens.  But this is continuing each day and i'm beginning to wonder if i might have something like hiatal hernia.  The discomfort lasts until about 10 -11 p.m. and is gone when i wake up in the morning, but begins to build up later in the day.  I also have difficulty swallowing and some shortness of breath when it is at it's worst.  I don't think this is heart related chest pain.  What might it be?

Stress or other meds can also affect ur condition and diet....u may have a food or bev that is causing the problem.

Have u been seen by ur dr recently??

The fact that u r ok when u sleep, but after getting up I wonder if stress is involved.

Please see ur dr and post an update.
