I am so glad u got to see a dr and got an rx.
This med can take more than a few days to see the affects, so do not get discouraged...be patient and stick to a diet.

I did eat something later on (about 4pm) as i got really hungry but ate too quickly im afraid.....last night and about 12am i phoned the doctor on call and asked me to come to the walk in centre so he could give me a pescription for some medication...was really bad last night, the worst its every been and id taken gaviscon, gum, icepops to cool my throat which helped for a little while, tonic water (de-fizzed lol) as i felt nauseous and shaky.
Anywho, i finally got to sleep and got my pescription of 40mg Omeprazole. Throats still swollen but it should be ok within the next couple of days.
U may need to elevate ur bed a bit higher....using pillows doesn't work that well, and some people need to be higher...so if u have the bed elevated by 4 "'s mayb u want to try 6 "'s.
I understand u r not that interested in eating, but u need to put something in ur stomach for the acid to get used up......try several small meals, even if it is crackers and jello.
Not eating can make u feel worse.....
I hope the gum helps

Hi and welcome to teh GERD forum.
U can get gerd from not eating as well as eating the wrong foods.
Try eating 4 or 5 small meals a day......avoid acidic foods and dairy.
U may also want to talk to ur local Pharmacist to see what he recommends for the symptoms u r having....this way u can have something that may help/work until u see ur dr.
Try chewing gum...the saliva helps break down the acids....I try and chew sugarless gum....and I avoid mint as it affects me.
Did u elevate the head of ur bed?...this can also help.
Drink as much water as possible and hopefully ur dr will give u an antibiotic for the UTI.
Post an update after ur dr visti friday.
