Do talk to your doctor, but I will tell you that 2 1/2 months after the same surgery, Gas X gives me great relief.  It has been a learning process for me what I can eat.  Iceberg lettuce, raw onions, sweet peppers with skin on all are no-no's for me.  Same for any high fat product.  I can handle sauteed onions or peppers with the skins removed.  When I talked with my doctor post-op, I was cleared to take Gas x. How long ago did you have the surgery?

My surgery was a complete success, I have no acid reflux whatsoever, sounds like you had a good result as well.  I can burp a bit now, as my surgeon suggested would happen.  It isn't easy, but I can.  I can even have a glass of red wine now with no reprocussions.

H i Kurt...I would suggest talking to ur dr as not being able to burp is a side effect of this surgery as is the inability to vomit.

I would say it may depend on how long since u had surgery if u should attempt to take an OTC item...but do ask ur dr.

Let  us know how it works if the dr gives the go ahead : )
