hi selma, results are in for endoscopy!...my poor babys tummy is very poorly :-(. the eosophigus was fine, and also the valve entering the stomach...however, when they entered the stomach itself, i was advised that what they saw was a "mess". he's been diagnosed with severe gastritis. its swelling, inflamation, and bleeding of the stomach wall, in drews case, its too thin bacause of his prematurity, the acid is badly burning through it. he's been started on a new medicine called sulcofate, along with omeprazole. review in 2 weeks.xx
That is good to hear that he is on a mild diet already.
Keep a journal tho...some foods on the "safe" list may still bother him...so by keeping track u will know his triggers. He may also outgrow some of them.
Godspeed

yes will give an update after the endoscopy!, not from us, from england!, were aware of most of the foods that cause flare ups, usually tomato based foods, so he's currently on a diet of mild creamy foods like macaroni cheese, porrige, custard, mashed potatoe, etc.
xx
I figured the bottom was acid related....be it from foods directly or indirectly....and u would be given something to put on...I had no idea what would be advisable.I imagine u r not from the US as u refer to diapers as a nappy....lol...
I am also very happy to hear they bumped up the endoscopy and I look forward to an update!!
Keep in mind...foods will play a part in the acid production and some soaps may cause further issues.
I pray all goes well

HI selma, i got in touch with my sons gastroenterologist consultant yesterday, and have been advised that its actually the acid coming down from his tummy and burning his bottom. i was advised to plaster on sudacrem as thick as possible, to heal the burn, and make a barrier between his skin and nappy contents. we also noticed his vomiting had become more forcefull with this recent flare up, and its suggested that because he's had it so long, the valve at top of tummy is now beginning to give way. we had an endoscopy booked for may, but he has now been put on an emergency list for the 16th march.
...after some thought it was bugging me about the sore bottom and I am wondering if ur son has an alergy.
U still need to get him to a dr, but do try the elimination diet to see if u can get a change in his systems.
Just like adults with gerd, we have to watch our diets.....I also remember that my DD had issues with red food dye and had a sore bottom as well.....she couldn't sit in a tub that had soap in it...even baby soft soaps woulld burn her.....I started giving her showers to eleviate this problem....and also found red dye in more things than I could imagine.
Good luck

HI...I do not know, but I do suggest u take him to his drs and have them assist u with this...any open wound that can have bacteria get in is not good.
Please see the dr and update us.
