I am sorry you are having so much trouble.  I was diagnosed with LPR 2 days ago, so I am very new to this.  But I am also taking Dexilant with is the same as Lansoprazole.  I have been researching what to eat because I think that is key to making the whole situation better.  My stress and lifestyle have contributed to my situation. I had been eating breakfast, but then going sometimes 8 to 10 hours before eating dinner and then because I was so hungry, I'd eat a  big meal and then going to sleep soon after. Which I have learned is a recipe for developing LPR.  My doctor gave me a pamphlet which gives a very brief diet to follow.  But I done some research on it too because I realize now that for this to be corrected, I need to eat smaller more frequent meals.  My doctor also told me to sleep with my head elevated above my stomach so that the reflux isn't so bad. So a propped myself up on about 4 pillows starting at the middle of my back. Kind of in a wedge shape.  Believe it or not I slept better the last two nights than I can even remember.  I don't think I moved at all. So try that.  As far as food goes I think bland, mild food is the answer.  I think it irritates your stomach not to eat, so that may be contributing to your nausea.  Yesterday I ate Cheerios for breakfast with 1% milk, for lunch I had rice with a little butter and soy sauce, steamed broccoli and 2 scrambled eggs.  For dinner I had chicken with rice, butter and soy sauce and the rest of my steamed broccoli.  I waited about 3 hours before I went to bed.  Today I had grits for breakfast and just a few minutes ago I had whole grain toast with a tablespoon of peanut butter.  I'm thinking the peanut butter is risky but I am going to see how I feel.  But if you are feeling nauseated maybe some saltine crackers would calm your stomach.  I read somewhere that the soda in the crackers acts like an antacid.  Do some research and find the things that sound appealing to you and eat those things.  If something doesn't work mark it off your list.  I hope you find some relief soon.  Good luck!

By the way with congestion and a lot of mcus, That can be from GERD! I have the same thing! I have so much mucus from reflux, and it could also be food, and acid coming up that feels like mucus. Allergies to food can also triger the mucus, That is what the ent will tell you.. If no lymph nodes or excessive sneezing, burning eyes appear then it's very likely its from GERD!

Try warm water and oatmeal in the morning! I wouldn't recommend coffee

apple sauce is actually constipating so it may not be the best food to eat.

ENT is a Ear Nose and throat Dr.....

Keep a list of foods u try to eat...and use the list of foods that are safe from the Health Pages.... http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/list?cid=236

U want to avoid the foods that make u ill and when u r very ill water can trigger ur symptoms...so, once u have the meds in ur system slowly add foods that r considered safe and avoid greasy , acidic, spicy foods, and carbonated and caffeinated bevs...and alcohol....

I hope this is helpful : )

I'm so sorry you lost your job. I wish I could help you. I also have GERD and recommend a better diet. I was on pantoprazole(proton pump inhibitor) which is similar and I feel it won't help you without an antibiotic. The nausea is very likely from an irritation in the lining. I am very against having that medicine in stores! When I saw that medicine in stores 3 weeks ago I was shocked! I know specialists are so expensive , But you should not be on medicine without a doctor. The medicine probably will help for now, but try to get more help in the upcoming years just like I should. The diet I recommend is No fried, oily, TOMATO SAUCE-BIG NO NO!, make sure you have no allergies like milk or wheat. It's very common to have an allergy because the acid cannot tolerate the enzymes. (My opinion) Drink only water and apple juice. Make sure you have no constipation. If your constipated drink apple juice every day (1-3 days is usually how long it takes to help). Eat mashed soft potatoes until your stomach heals. NO SODA! Only water! NO orange juice NO LEMON JUICE! anything on the acid scale is a no no! Don't eat candy. If you don't have an allergy to milk I would recommend Ensure! It healed me when I came  out of the hospital. Until you can get a doctor You should probably not take too much medicine. lansoprazole should be a year thing not a 2 week thing. I'm sorry I wish I could help. Try to relax and have a stress free life even though I can imagine how much your going through right now. :( Drink warm water. I remember when I threw up every day before I went to school I would have a popsicle to stop it in the morning. Maybe that will help. Eat very light in the morning like outmeal and warm water. Don't drink coffee until you feel better. I believe in a good diet that can naturally heal your stomach!
I wish you all the best and I hope you find a better Job in your path of success!!

I am so sorry ur life io so stressful and there is no avoiding the stress...mayb u can find ways to relax when u get home? Soaking in the tub with ur fav music playing... nething that will help u relax and unwind...may help.

Knowing what is causing depression is the start to ending it....we have to learn to live with some things, and I know as I have this too, and have had it most of my life as well as a few other things...and I choose to not let it run me or my state of well being...

Is ur weight so much that u r gaunt? or do u still look healthy?

If u look healthy, then try and eat what u know is healthy also, and eat things that will not nauseate u...it may well be the food u r eating or bevs u r drinking...u  do have to modify ur lifestyle and diet with this and u can do it and still enjoy what u eat....I know I do : )

See our Health Pages for tips on foods that are safe and foods to avoid-http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/list?cid=236

Believe it or not, grapefruit juice sipped during the day will stop nausea.   You might want to try some St. John's Wort also or Valerian for the anxiety.  I am sorry that things are so bad for you right now.  I hope and pray that you feel better soon.  Saltine crackers usually help my nausea - because of the baking soda they contain.  Please make sure you drink enough water so you don't get dehydrated.  Again, I am so sorry you are so ill.

i was on meds the first month but i got off them, but till about a week and a half ago i started taking lansoprazole and that stopped the heartburn and upset stomach but the nauxiou seems like it has gotten worst. doctor tested me for a hernia and said there was none. My life is very stressful and will be for couple months and i cant really do anything about it. This disease is the cause for my depression, i lost so much weight and i just feel weak cause i barely eat anymore because i might feel nauxious and vomit.

Hi....in addition to avoiding foods that will trigger symptoms, did u also modify ur lifestyle?

Are u still on the meds? U can get them OTC....talk to ur local Pharmacist at the Drug store and they can suggest what u might take....

If ur job was very stressful, that too will add to this issue, u need to know the underlying factors...hiatal hernia, etc,...so u know how to treat it.
