help me

hi i have GERD and I am taking Nexium 2x a day to combat it. over the past few days, I've felt good duting the day but before bed, I feel this burning sensation in my chest area. it feels like hunger pain, but I dont feel hungry. can someone tell me how to get rid of this? i dont feel hungry, just a burning sensation in my chest. I take 2 Nexium pills a day. One in the morning and one after I eat dinner. i have been doing this for a month or so now. I haven't had a acid reflux attack for a while, but this concerns me now. Please let me know what to do!

I am glad u r feeling better.I hope u try to cut back on greasy or fatty foods....happy to hear u cut back on soda...if u  remember everything is ok in moderation u should continue to feel better.

I would suggest u elevate the bed...2 pillows may not really be helpful as it can put ur body in an awkward position...plus u can roll off them.

Ginger tea is helpful with stomach issues...plus tastes good too....I drink it all the time.

I pray u continue to improve

thanks for the help. I'm still getting pains but not as severe. im trying my best to eat better but im still eating greasy, fatty foods. BUT i'm drinking less soda and drinking more water and vitamin water which quenches my thirst. burning has gone down some. i think friday night was the last time i threw up. been taking more showers to deal with the heat and sleeping in AC more often. it's a struggle but im trying to deal with this crap. and vivilovesNBB, i never tried ginger, besides ginger ale lol but i might try that one day. and I sleep with 2 pillows so I can relieve the burning and stress, don't get me started lol but im trying to do less strenous stuff :P

thanks for the help and I'll be sure to update you guys if anything changes. i dont see my GI doc until end of september.. ugh.. but taking 2 nexium a day so its helping  in some ways

I have Laryngopharyngeal Reflux but the treatment is the same as GERD.You should watch your diet:not to take anything acidic,no smoking, alcohol, caffinated drink.Ginger after meal or dinner is good to calm the burning symtoms.I use old ginger root with boiling water till the ginger juice is intense. No spicy food. I raised my bedhead 5".I don't take fried, fatty or oily food.Stress makes everything worse too.Keep posting your updates.

not really. I'm trying to cut down on greasy and fried foods. so I eat grilled chicken and have started eating vegetables. I'm trying to lay off meat as well but not so much. Im taking my Nexium as prescribed ( 2 pills per day) and I still have some pain but last night it started getting better so maybe it's the heat (its been very hot here recently) so either im dehydrated or I ate something bad. Yeah I keep forgetting to write a journal so I'll start that up  this weekend.

But thanks for the help and if anything changes I'll be sure to post here :)

Hi....have u modified ur diet?

It is possible something u ate or drank is causing this flare up...or, r u on ne meds?, they can cause a flare up too.

Please see the Health Pages on foods to avoid and tips on lifestyle changes...this in addition to meds can help u feel better.

Keeping a journal as to what u ate...drank...and were feeling can also help find ur triggers to a flare.
