still burning

Hi, My Mom is 86 with big, long term hiatal hernia, shortened esophagus, chronic reflux, etc. Surgery NG.
No changes, just scar. Last few years, food gets stuck, takes some time to clear, chest pain, you know the drill, clears with a burp, occasionally need emergency room. Two questions;

Is there anything that can signal the LES to open in this case to let food down?

She's on Nexium and famotidine currently for about a month but the reflux and throat-mouth burn won't stop. Can't be acid, must be just enzymes. Agony.  Anything to help?

  I have read there are some Chiropractors that can manipulate the hernia so it gives relief....u may want to see if there is one in ur area experienced with this and give it a try.....??

First of all I was unclear. She has not had surgery, not a good candidate was what I meant to say.recent probiotics hurt more than help. No recent pH testing but more nexium helps and less is way bad. I'm not looking for diagnosis, she has GI docs but they mainly shrug. The usual last resorts, carafate no help, Pepto Biz, helps a little.
This is an esophagus that closes when it should open and opens when it should close stuck on a big twisted Hiatal Hernia.
Just looking for anything to help the burning pain.

  Hi...has ur mom had the PH testing to make sure her issue is high levels of acids? Low levels can cause many of the same symptoms and then the meds on top will make her feel worse.

Also I would suggest asking her Dr to look at giving her a probiotic to try...this will help get her digestive track back to a natural balance.
