Gallbladder

Recently had an ultrasound on my gallbladder after having some intense pain in middle to right side under ribcage. The pain would radiate into my back. Haven't seen my doctor yet but was given preliminary results from nurse before seeing my doctor. She said my gallbladder in contracted with calcium. She wouldn't say what this meant and I have not idea. Does this mean I have gallstones? The ultrasound tech did mention that there were gallstones.

It sounds like you found the problem. Remember, it is a gallbladder problem, not a gallstone problem. The gallstones are merely the evidence of a diseased gallbladder. If you are having typical biliary pain all you are looking for is evidence that the gallbladder is abnormal. Calcium in the gallbladder in not normal. Whether they are referring to calcified gallstones (most are not) or to calcium in the wall - so called porcelein gallbladder either way, given appropriate symptoms, the recommendation is cholecystectomy.
