Wet gas but no diarrhoea

I am a bit concerned about my bowels.  I went to the toilet earlier, I seemed to be slightly constipated as I couldn't go much. I did manage to go and it was solid, but didn't do very much. I remained on the toilet for a bit longer to see if I could get any more out, when I finally gave up and wiped myself the paper was full of liquid. How can this be? I haven't got diarrhoea? I am too afraid to pass gas now in case I have an accident. It can't be a bowel obstruction as I went properly the other day.

I think you are still constipated and I would get some Miralax to help with this, and it's not habit forming.  They liquid you saw stems from the lubrication in the intestines that aid in the passing of stool goes around the impacted stool and out the rectum.  The Miralax will soften things up so you can go completely.  Take care.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  Sometimes when someone is constipated, only liquid portions of stool can get through the large intestine, and your stool comes out liquid.  I would recommend seeing your doctor about this.  In the mean time you can try adding more fiber to your diet and drinking more water.
