Why would a gastroenterologist order at home tests?

I had a colonoscopy today due to a swollen colon and persistent diarrhea for 6months. He took biopsies But said he didn't find anything wrong. He also said he'll be sending people to my home for tests. He didn't say what kind of tests, just that they get sent to California. What kind of tests could they be?
