Rectal bleeding is never normal and should always be medically investigated by a G.I. specialist. For possible causes, google rectal bleeding and click onto one of the many sites - the Medicinenet site is particularly informative.
You do not say how old you are but the more serious causes of rectal bleeding (colon cancer etc) are unlikely to arise before you are age ~40/50 plus.
Unless your G.I. specialist can positively prove that the cause of your bleeding is minor (e.g. haemorrhoids, anal fissure etc) then for maximum reassurance (hopefully) you may wish to request a colonoscopy.
How do I know about all this?? Well in 2003/2004 I suffered torrential diverticular bleeding for which I underwent a total colectomy and what I have written above is what I picked up during the various consultations and surgery/treatment for this serious condition.

Thanks for your feedback. I am a 41 yo male Firefighter in great shape and no other Signs/Symptoms. I am going to a GI MD tomorrow so hopefully he can tell me whats going on. Thanks again.
This is something you should see your doctor about. Any time you have blood coming from your anus it could be serious. The cause could range from anal fisures to colon cancer. Get yourself checked out.
3 hemorrhoids! Thanks for the replies.
