Chronic diarrhea and foot pain

I have had chronic diarrhea for approximately 20 years.  When I get the feeling that I have to go, sometimes (many times) I have to "hold it" until I can get to the bathroom.  Is it possible that this "holding it" has caused the muscles (near the colon) to grow so big and strong that it is causing pressure somewhere on my spinal cord and nerves?  I ask this because over the past 15 years I have had slow , but progressing tingling and numbness in both of my feet.  It is to the point now that the muscles in my feet are extremely sore and cramping.  When I get the feeling of having to go, the tingling in my feet gets worse.
Please help.

You have responded to an old, outdated thread from 2006. The people who originally posted these comments may very well have moved on. Rather than reply to an old thread, we recommend that people start a new topic to discuss the subject anew. To do that, please click on the green "Post a Question" button at the top of the page. This will get your post the attention it deserves. Thank you.

I've often wondered same thing, but mine is lil different.I will sometimes get painful diarrhea attacks that I literally feel the pain shoot through my back, buttocks, legs, and toes! I think it is the vagus nerve, but this is something you might want to ask your dr about, hopefully someone on here can tell ya more.Good luck and take care!
