I just recently (like a week ago) had a ultrasound on my gallbladder & the ER doctor told me that it showed I had gallstones, fluid around my gallbladder, & that my gallbladder is inflamed. Most likely they will have you do a HIDA scan which is not painful. They just inject a dye into ur IV if you already have one in & then you sit there on your back under a machine & it takes a video of your gall bladder when the dye goes through there etc. to see if your bile ducts are blocked in anyway.. The only uncomfortable part is lying still for an hour. She told me I could move my hands, feet, etc just don't put my hands anywhere near where the machine was looking at. Hope this helps
Do you know if the ultrasound will pick up any other problems with my gallbladder than just gallstones? I've never had this test before. Thanks for any help!
I think your doc is on the right track. Just remember, ultrasound is great at detecting gallstones, but you can still have a bad gallbladder without stones.
