ELEVATED LIVER ENZYMES

About 6 weeks ago I started experiencing symptoms these were

I would come home from work, eat and then begin to feel very strange.  Extreme vertigo, dizziness, major headache.  Looking back now it is aroudn when it got cold and I had just closed all the doors and windows and turned on the HVAC.  The symptoms began to get worse about 5 days later.  I drove to urgent care to have them check my blood pressure and heartrate, 200/100 and 165 beats per minute.  They did a quick and dirty EKG and called the ambulance.  I was in the ER for 6 hours and they found nothing.  I was told that I had either an inner ear infection of developed sever anxiety.  Never had anxiety before.

One week later, still experiencing vertigo, dizziness, now I start getting twitching in me fingers and what I can only describe as spasms in my chest, stabbing pains in stomach with EXPLOSIVE diarrhea.  I went 2.5 days without being able to eat.  I went back to ER.  They gave me a GI cocktail, pepcid and protonix, said I might have gallbladder or ulcer.  Went to GI within 3 days.  Got blood work, ultasound and endosopy.  All negative except, ALT at 79 (AST 32), and "mild" fatty liver".

Put me on meds, I never really had a chance to take them, 5 days later I ended up in the ER with NO abdominal pain, but severe muscle contractions in hands and arms (like severe twitching and spasms) and what I described to the doctor as a feeling like I had been "dosed" with some kind of a hallucanegenic drug.  They did CT on my head, nothing.  4 hours later in ER symptoms subside.  I begin to think, when I am in my apartment I feel weird, when I am out I feel better.  I never stayed in the apartment again.  Also, I am an engineer, I was completely unable to do my job for about 2 weeks because I just couldnt think.  I actually got lost a couple times driving home from work.  It freaked me out bad.

Went to allergist, he told be that it was not an allergy but a "toxic" reaction to something.  And he diagnosed some small bunps on my body (20 or so all over very small, i hadnt really noticed them) as petichiae.  He told me to not go back in the apartment for any length of time.  I lost 30 pounds in 3 weeks.  I went from about 230 to 200.

Ive been out for 3 weeks and seem to be doing better, except I do have some "liver pain".  Upper quadrant and some wrapping around my back.  Comes and goes but I am definately getting better, I would say that I am overall about 90% functionally.

I began to search online for possibilities, the only things I can find (that would be plausable) are pesticide poisoning, meth used to be in my apartment or some kind of crazy mold.  No visible mold anywhere that I could find.

Ultimately, my question is this: I cant seem to find anyone that will help me.  My General says she doesnt know what to do and/or test for, GI says all he can do is take a liver biopsy, allergists says nothing he can do.  I have called EPA, CDC, OSHA and the Health Department. They all said it is the health departments job... Health Department sent over a guy that checked the humidity, that was it.  I am living in a hotel and at this point really dont know who to contact or what to do.  I am going to call the salvation army to come get all my furniture and use a gas mask to go in and get whatever else I HAVE to have.  I just totally feel like no one cares.  Ive got 2 monthes left on the lease and I am going to spend that time trying to figure it out.  Anyone ever experience anything like this before?  I was the kid growing up that never missed a day, never been sick in my life.

I forgot a couple things...

I am also getting some kind of weird eye discharge.  When I wake up in the morning I have like little white stuff floating around in my eyes.

Along with all the twitching and vertigo,  there was EXTREME anxiety and tingling in my fingers.

I have also had, up until about 4 days ago, serious black circles around my eyes and red blood vessels in eyes.

Whenever I would have an attack, my urine would become clear and have a very bad smell.  Almose like a fishy smell. It would take 2 days for my urine to return to normal.

Hi John,

I am just looking for a few connections to my vertigo problem as well. I also tested as having a "slightly fatty liver." I have gotten over the worst of my battle with it and am now just trying to determine what triggers it further.

I have found that keeping my diet to a very basic simple form seems to help. Example: Healthy subs/sandwiches, avoid highly processed foods, especially deep fried foods,

I am also taking a tea that is supposed to clean my liver. Esiac tea.

I am still continuing to pray and be careful in all these things. Vertigo sure is not fun!

I wish you good success. Timothy
