Yeah, with it having to do with gases in your body...you could be feeling it, in other places. And hey! I didn't think about it, until you mentioned having the pains in your shoulder, and shoulder blade area! Does it feel like a muscle spasm, or you feel really weak there? And possibly feel it more when you take a deep breath??? Because, after reading what 'DavidInPortland' wrote.....It automatically made me think of PLEUROSY! I probably didn't spell it right. You should really get a medical opinion on this, before it has a chance to get worse!!!
Have you had a blood or breath test for H. Pylori? You have the symptoms of this common bacteria. This is the nasty bacteria that is the cause of most ulcers. It is also one of the most common and overlooked because the symptoms can vary from person to person. H. Pylor is also very hard to kill, but it can be done with antibiotics.
For symptom relief, I highly recommend taking, over the counter, Pepcid 15 minutes before meals. You can only use Pepcid 2 times in a 24 hour period. Since you have bloating and gut pain, I would highly recommend eating Licorice. This is an old remedy, yet is very effective. You may have to eat large amounts, especially the first time, before you get relief. I had to eat about 8 OZ the first time to get very good relief. I'm not sure that all licorice sold in the stores is the really licorice. Some may be just artificial flavoring. I used the Aussie Style Soft Gourmet [Licorice Black flavor). I found it at my local Walgreens store-it's one of those big discount pharmacy stores. There may be easier and more healthy products to take. My cousin, told me that DGL eglyeyrrhizinated Licorice.is the best product type--especially if you need to take it long term.
I am currently on Prilosec as well. The Pepcid and licorice are fine to take with it. If you do have the H. Pylori Bacteria. You will be given an antibiotic treatment plan. The Pepcid and licorice work well with these plans to drastically reduce the misery.
I wish you a speedy recovery!
Thanks! I am reviewing it now!
GASTROINTESTINAL DISORDER
Thanks Laura! Something is better than nothing and right now I am getting nothing. I am having a pain in my left shoulder too (sometimes between my shoulder blades). Could that be related or should I have that checked out?
It sounds to me like you have that gastrol...something or other. I can't remember the name of it exactly, but I'm amazed that your doctors haven't figured that out (unless it's something else....). I had pretty bad stomach pains that sounded alot like your symptoms, a few yrs. ago, and was told that I had that. Like I said, I can't remember the name of it, but I'll check it out and get back to ya. Hope I was some kind of help to you
