For all who believe in the power of prayer - please pray for me

Hello my friends. I'm here just asking for those who believe to please pray for me. I need all the prayer I can get. For the past few months I've been having stomach pains. Usually they weren't too bad and would eventually go away so I could ignore them a lot. Today I woke up with pain and nausea. I tried to take it easy figuring it would go away but it didn't. All week they've been trying to figure out what is wrong with me and took some blood and a CAT Scan yesterday. I went into the ER and they were able to pull up the CAT Scan results and found something I had almost forgetten about. Three years ago, five weeks after the birth of my third child, I had an emergency appendectomy. At that time they saw a suspicious mass in my small intestine near the appendix. I had a colonoscopy because they wanted to see what it was. The doctor wasn't able to quite get to it because there was some thickening in the wall and he couldn't push the scope through. He did some biopsies around it and said that he didn't think it was cancer but we'd keep an eye on it. We did watch it for a full year and it didn't grow so we thought everything was ok. Yesterday's CAT Scan showed that it has almost doubled in size since 2005. Apperently that's why I'm having this pain because there's some blockage. I'm to see the surgeon on Monday. I'm grateful because it's the same surgeon I had for my appendectomy and I really like him. He was very kind and concerned about me and he was also a believer so he said he was praying for me. I know he will say we need to do surgery now and I'm just dreading it. This is serious major surgery. They'd have to go in and cut out part of my small intestine (to remove the mass) and reattach it to the large intestine. Even though I partly feel like this hasn't sunk in yet, I'm still a little scared. I'm young, only 42. I have three children who need me. I guess I'm just coming here looking for some comfort and prayers at this point. Thank you and God bless you all.

This is Liz Ann,
I was convinced my issues were related to my gallbladder, but ultrasound showed no stones, had a CCK which showed an ejection fraction of 79 % which rules out gallbladder dysfunction. The ultrasound did show a healthy pancrease and only a small liver cyst, so I'm praising God that the things I was so teriffied of were not diagnosed. I know that ultrasounds are not definitive in dx cancers, but the gross anatomy was not concerning on ultrasound.Thank you all for your kind prayers and words of encouragement. They were a "warm blanket on a cold night". I'm going to try and eat slowly and carefully in hopes I can get my digestive tract back on track. Thanks again and God Bless,
Liz Ann

liz ann, I'm praying for you. God is good. Don't forget, He is in control. He knows all about what's going on with you. He even has your hairs numbered. Something I kept reminding myself was, I won't die until my purpose on this earth has been fulfilled. I believe God still has plans for my life and I believe He has plans for yours. Just take one day at a time and try and find rest in His arms.

I know all about fear! I've always struggled with that. But God is so good. Even when I started to doubt and allow fear back in, He kept things going smoothly. Ask Him how you can glorify Him through what you're going through. Maybe there's someone God wants you to reach. When I was going to my first visit with my surgeon, I was singing praise songs in my car and really felt His peace! I felt confident and even joy! I know that was the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately, I allowed people (and the enemy) to put fear back in my mind every time they worried and asked "What if it's cancer?". For awhile there I was doing good until I started looking at my circumstance instead of keeping my eyes on Jesus.
I reminded myself over and over to be like Peter who walked on the water. He was doing fine while his eyes remained on Jesus, but then he started to look around at the storm and panicked and began to sink. Good thing he cried out to the Lord, because that's when Jesus graciously grabbed him back up! I remind myself of that story over and over. We can walk on that water and get through that storm as long as our eyes remain on Jesus. Keep your eyes on Jesus! Don't look around at the storm around you. Just keep telling Him you trust Him no matter what, and He will honor your faith. God bless you! Let us know when you get more news. Praying!

I'm sooo happy to hear your allright! Praise
god! This is Liz Ann, I posted on 9/07/07. Can I please ask you guys to pray for me also. I know I'm freaking out over nothing but I'm scared. For the past three months I've had bad bouts of loose diarrhea and frequent B.M.s I tested positive for blastocystis homonis and was on three antiobiotics in four months. I now have ugi discomfort, indegestion especially after a meal  ( more so if it's high in fat).and a 10 pound weight loss. Not much of an appitite. I do have pain under my left rib cage, also my mid back that radiates up to the right shoulder blade. My temp is only slightly elevated 99"6. I had a colonoscopy that was totally normal. I had all kinds of liver and pancretic labs and were all normal. Now the part I need prayer for. You see, I'm and R.N. that currently works in radiology. I'm  SCRADED to death it's something like pancreatic cancer. I'm hoping it's only gall stones, but I've seen so much to be scared out of my witts. I'm trying hard to trust in the Lord.  I just want an appitite back and feel better. Thank's for lending an ear. I see the G.I. Dr this Monday. Hopefully we can get a positive ultrasound and get this thing taken care of,
God Bless, Liz Anne

I think mine may have been different than yours. I had pain more in my lower right abdomin and more centered with waves of nausea coming and going. I'm not sure what's going on with you. Go ahead and let them do the upper GI. I had one done. It's a little time consuming but not too bad. The worst part is you have to drink this nasty drink, It was rather interesing, actually. I was able to watch the screen during part of the test, so I could see the drink going down and the colon contracting. I had an upper GI with a lower bowel follow through. Ask if you can get the lower bowel follow through too along with the upper GI. If you're going to have to be there and drink that drink, etc., then you might as well get the whole test. It does take longer, but you'll see everything this way. Just make sure you drink lot's of water when the test is done to flush out all that contrast. They'll have you fast that morning and expect to be there a few hours.
Have you had an ultrasound to see the gallbladder? That might be an option too.
I'm not sure if the umbilical hernia would cause pain. My son was born with that. It made his belly button stick out. They told us if it didn't close on it's own, we could fix it surgically. We waited until my son wanted it fixed. He decided at age 7 that he wanted it fixed. They had told us that as he got older and more active that it could cause pain. It was a very simple procedure.
I'm really not sure what your symptoms mean. I'd go ahead and do the tests the Gastro doc orders. You'll feel better once you know what it is so they can fix it. I wish you the best!

Im glad your recovery went well. Was your pain located in the upper right abdomen? I was just wandering since I have been having pain inmy upper right abdomen. My internal medicine guy ran all these tests and could find nothing except an umbilical hernia. I am 26 years old. He sent me to a gastroenterologist who ordered a blood test and a gastric emptying study. He also said that they may also have to do an upper GI endoscopy. Im freakin out here. I think its my gallbladder. I go to school full time, and the majority of the time Im in class and all I can think about is the stabbing pain in my right side. Ive been to the ER twice. I also have a bad case of iron deficiency anemia. I cant seem to store iron. The iron pills don't help. Please give me your opinion on this problem?

Spongebob slippers!!! LOL! I love it! :)
When I was getting ready to get put under for my appendectomy 3 years ago, I asked the doctor if he could make it worth my while and do a little liposuction while he was in there. He just smiled and said I didn't need it. Yeah, right!
They were very careful with me being put under both times because of my history. My mom had a very bad reaction to anesthesia. I wish I had thought about thanking the anesthesiologist. I honestly didn't think about it. I was very appreciative towards the good care my surgeon gave me.
Hey, it was nice talking to you! It's always good to meet another believer! It shows me how small our world is. Hope to talk to you again sometime. God bless!

So glad you are having a nice recovery.I've had a total of 3 major surgeries and I still am impatient to get up and atem.I hope you continue to just improve every day.I too put a lot of trust in God but there is something to say about a good anesthesiologist.I had the same one for the last 2 surgeries. He was such a kind, calming man.Pretty serious too-until he saw my Sponge-Bob slippers. He just threw back his head and laughed as I was 41 at the time. But I told him I needed some cheerful jammies and slippers to match.I remember being in the surgical room to have my thyroid removed and just going under when he told one of the nurses to lift the sheet off my feet and look at my slipper/socks.The last thing I remember was ALOT of laughter. After I got out of the hospital and recooped I went to this place where they make cookie "bouquets" and ordered 5 Sponge-Bob Squarepants cookies and I had them delivered to his office.A small gesture for doing a good job putting me under and bringing me back up.I don't have Crohns but I have a hietal hernia and GERD.That is how I found the forum. This is a great place. You take care and here is a virtual hug

Thank you all so much! I know all the prayers have helped tremendously! I did indeed have the surgery Aug. 7th. I stayed in the hospital 6 days and have been recovering nicely. I did have more pain and nausea than I expected, and it's taken longer than I thought to heal (I'm not a very patient person!) but I'm doing really well. They did do the biopsy and said that the mass was fibrous scar tissue with an ulcer nearby. They cut out about 7 or 8 inches of my intestine. The ulcer appears to be a classic case of Crohns Disease. My surgeon was surprised. He didn't think I showed enough sypmptoms of Crohns. Hopefully, since they only saw one ulcer, it's a mild case. He gave me a referral to see a Gastroenterologist next to see what our next step is or if I need further treatment.
I'm so sorry I didn't get on sooner! I thought I did let everyone know, and now that I think about it, I only posted on the Surgeon part of the forum. Please forgive me!
It's great to know there are so many people who care and other believers out there! I have had a problem with fear before, but God is so gracious. I did indeed feel His peace and was calm when they put me under and everything went so well, I just know it was because of all the prayers! Thank you all so much again!

By the way, anyone else out there with Crohns?
