Gastro-paresis

I was told I am too young to even think that I have a chance of having Gastro-paresis.  I have migranes (lately quite often).  Besides the migranes, I have nearly no appetite, seem to be forcing myself to eat and when I get something to eat I barely take but a few bites before being really full, yet I'm forcing myself to eat more.  After trying to eat a subway sandwich yesterday cold chicken breast, I got nausea and my migrane got really bad and my stomach has been cramping.  I have been trying to lose weight so I have been eating things like apples, oranges, broccoli, ground turkey, not a lot of carbs and not alot of fat, nearly no soda if any, and lots of water.  But some of those things seem to be giving me really bad stomach aches.  I am not losing weight, it has been more like gaining weight or staying steady.  My energy levels are low, I do have hypo thyroid and I have been on medication for 5 years to treat it.  I had my gullbladder taken out when I was 19 after having severe stomach pain, sweating, and shaking issues (after eating fatty foods), but didn't have gullstones.  I have irregular cycles, getting my period every 6-9 months, it has been that way ever since I have been getting my period.  I am not pregnant, I take pregnancy tests regularly since my cycles are so irregular.  Since the removal of my gullbladder 5 years ago I have gained nearly 80 pounds.  I am now over weight, and feel sick most days.  I will give anything to feel better any suggestions, do i just change my diet, do i need to see a doctor...and if i need to see a doctor what to I say...to get tested?  Looking for advice...am i mis diagnosing myself.  I do excercise, and I am a very active person in my everyday life.

Your stomach pains also could be from eating raw vegees and eating high acidic foods.  I have stomach issues and have been told by my doctor to avoid high fibre foods because they are difficult to digest and hard on the stomach(lettuce, broccoli, cauliflour, oranges).  I started seeing a herbalist and she is trying to help balance the PH in my body from all the pain meds I was taking and give me "natural" medicine that is not so harmful to my body.  Good luck!

My son had stomach issues and his tests were all coming back negative.  He had abdominal cramping and nausea.  I asked his GI doc about gastroparesis and he said "It doesn't usually happen in kids."  (My son is 14 yrs old).

The GI doctor sent us to a psychologist instead.  A couple of months ago, my son was diagnosed with dysautonomia(autonomic nervous system messed up).  We traveled from St Louis to Cleveland for treatment.  The doctors in Cleveland wanted to test for gastroparesis (as this is not uncommon for someone with GI issues and dysautonomia), but we ran out of time while we were there.  They said for us to ask our St Louis GI doctor to run the test and forward the results to them.

Again, our St Louis GI dr dismissed gastroparesis and wouldn't run the test-even at another doctors request.  SO- we had the test run with the orders from the drs in Cleveland and my son does have gastroparesis!  Don't let a doctor dismiss you, or find a doctor that will run tests to rule things out.

Also, my son experienced migraines terribly as well.  He was sent to the emergency room 3 times last year because his migraines, once they started, wouldn't stop.

The autonomic nervous system runs everything that is involuntary (ex-heart rate, blood pressure, digestion,,,,).  If you have any other symptoms, maybe read up on autonomic dysfunction.  It took us three years to get the right diagnosis for my son.

Don't give up, if a doctor is not helpful, get a new one.
