Giving up hope..

April 5th, 2009 started my downward spiral into a severe medical crisis. Three hours after landing in Florida for the beginning of my spring break i came down with intense pain in my lower abdomen and rectum.  Also constipation. The pain was persistent for the entire night. I thought i had gotten food poisoning from the last meal that i had eaten; Steak & Shake burgers. However, to my misfortune, the pain continued for the next few days and was only getting worse. That Thursday i saw a doctor in florida, who tested for blood in my stool (negative) then advised me to get a CT scan to see if my appendix had ruptured.  The CT scan came out normal, and the doctor told me to just wait it out until i can see my primary.

The next week i went to the emergency room on campus because the pain still had not gone away. They examine my prostate and determine had Prostatitis, which is Inflammation of the prostate gland. They gave me Cipro 500mg twice daily for 2 weeks, and told me to follow up with a primary physician.  After the examination of the prostate, the following days were exceedingly painful. I found it difficult to sit, lay down, urinate, and make a bowl movement.  Aside from Prostatitis, i was also treated for Gonorrhea and chlamydia, both of which i tested negative for.

After this experience i went 5 days with no symptoms and no pain. I thought i was getting better, then everything came back.

I then went to see a urologist who continued to treat me for Prostatitis, but a week later told me he didnt think i had that, and took me off antibiotics. I wasn't demonstrating typical pain associated with Prostatitis such as difficulty urinating and painful urination. The only time i suffered these symptoms was when they touched my prostate. My symptoms were more gastrointestinal related.

So i went and saw  a G.I. specialist,  told them my symptoms and got a colonoscopy.

they found a polyp, removed it. ..bled for 2 days and spent 4 days in the hospital.

The polyp in unrelated to my symptoms. Now my symptoms are as follows:

Abdominal Pain, Rectal Pain, stomach pain..Fatigue, and heavy heart palpitations, almost as if my chest flutters. I DO NOT have diarrhea and the constipation was only the first 2 weeks.

Its been going on for two months now. I cant focus on anything, i've lost 5 pounds..90% of my time is spent laying down. I dont want to live like this anymore. I need help..

If anyone out there knows what this sounds like or has any suggestions please let me know. I feel helpless. I've seen 8 doctors. I'm giving up hope.

You may have an intestinal bacteria that is doing this to you.  You should have blood drawn and a stool sample to look specifically for infection.  Also could be when you had the few days of constipation, you may have developed a fissure or perhaps ordinary hemorrhoids.  The docs should also do an exam of your anal area to see if that's what is going on.  Only other thing that comes to mind is your lymph nodes in the groin may be flared up from some infection in another part of the body, like maybe a kidney infection, which when they examine you, they should check those lymphs.

In the meantime, drink plenty of water, eat whole grain cereals with acidophilus milk, drink a little orange juice with the cereal.  You can put plain KY jelly on the anal area after you bathe, to ease any irritation you have.  But the whole business about the prostate gland is worrisome, since that's when it hurt the worst after that exam, so you may wish to go to a urologist and get a second opinion on that issue.

What ever happened to you, I bet it was anal fissure, and you had  to have surgery for it! I want to know if they finally diagnosed you correctly.
