I know this is going to sound crazy to all of you because everyone's situation is different. But the best thing I have found in order to regularly eleminate is to drink PLENTY OF WATER and WALKING. Walking will naturally move everything down the canal so to speak. While I understand that some can't get out and walk as others can, perhaps walking outside around your yard a certain number of times two or three times a day. I understnad that a lot of people on here have really serious issues but if you are at all able to do this, I would really recommend trying it. I drink so much water, my mother (RIP) said that I was going to get water poisoning and to be truthful my urologogist advised me to back off drinking so much because I was re-shaping my bladder. All I am saying is if you are physically able , try it. Graprefruit juice is another good one to drink and take a walk after. But always, always consult your doctor. I pray for all of you in your circumstance and lift my prayers for you up to God the Father.
i drink a big glass of purn juice a day and i really go and then it wears down not having the runs
I have been taking 24 mgs. two times a day for over a year and was doing real good, but the last couple of months it has not been working. Is it possible to get immune to this medication?
Hey All.
My Dad 73Yrs young has had some serious med problems.
He beat cancer,Had pnemonia & recent back surgery.
In the last few months he's been constipated.
Not having a bowel movement in a week or more.
He's been on Amitza 24Mcg twice daily & he's going normally now.
No ill side affects either.
I hope this helps anyone seeking info in constipation & or the oral drug Amitza....
Well, I was prescribed Amitiza by my liver Doc in hopes of reducing the large amount of Miralax (MX) I take on a daily basis. I will go through a 527 gram bottle a week. I have not been able to reduce the amount of MX probably for several reasons. The first reason is that I have Autonomic Neuropathy (AN) which is secondary to HCV. Next, I am on a Fentanyl patch and take Oxycodone in addition to several other meds for pain.
Having said all of the above there is one difference I noticed with the Amitiza and that is the medication has greatly reduced the syncope episode I was having during a bowl movement which were occurring about once a month.
Since I have been prescribed a Amitiza, which was about six months ago, I only had one syncope incident which by itself is a help to me.
I hope my brief exegesis helps.
Take care, be well and enjoy the moments as they are all gifts,
JP
I have been seriously suffering for over 4 years, I'm 21 now, to the point where I'm missing school, work, and can't even go out with my friends. I rarely had a BM, twice a week if I was lucky, at 2 weeks the most. My new specialist that I have found perscribed Amitiza 24mcg twice a day also and it instantly took away the pain that I never thought would go away. That alone was a miracle! My stomach was also free of bloating which was odd to see since my abdomen was always severly bloated and extended, my stomach finally didn't look like it was going to burst. I can actually eat a meal without being in pain now and I don't actually feeling it go through my intestines any more.
Finding my new specialists and have been given Amitiza has seriously been a life changing event for myself. May seem silly but being a fully time student and working over full time, every minute is precious and let alone not being in pain all day, every day, I will give credit to Amitiza and would recommend it to anyone experiencing IBS.
If anyone has any questions, I would be more then willing to answer them.
I have been taking this drug for a month and it has made my bloating almost go away. I recommend it for that alone.
