Hi Everyone, I posted a while back with no response. Not sure if I did something wrong? Im going in for gallbladder surgery Tuesday. I'm scared it's the wrong thing to do. I had lots of lab work & testing done. The lab work shows that I'm as healthy as can be. I had 2 ultrasounds. The first one I had 2 different ultrasounds, abdominally & vaginal. This one showed a cyst on my ovary which was a functioning cyst. The cyst disappeared when I went to GYN & they did another ultrasound, it was gone. Also showed I had some polyps on my gallbladder & my gallbladder & liver was slightly enlarged. Dr sent me for a Hida Scan & they did another ultrasound. The Hida Scan showed nothing, my gallbladder function was 91%. When they gave me the CCK thru IV my stomach hurt so bad I thought I was going to pass out. I visited with a surgeon. He says that since I had pain with the test, it tells him that my gallbladder is functioning but with pain? But, when I have talked to other people. They say pain with that test is 'normal' & everyone has pain with that test? I talked with someone on another board, that says gallbladder polyps are reason enough to have a gallbladder problem & there is such a thing as an over functioning gallbadder. At 91% my gallbladder would be considered as over functioning.

I am so worried I'm making the wrong decision. I don't want to make this worse than it is. I have pressure under my right rib, I get acid reflux & heartburn when I eat anything fatty. I have severe gas. I get bloated. I'm tired all the time. I have been running fevers at least 3x's a week. My back hurts like crazy all the time, mostly on the right side and in between my shoulder blades.

I went to a different Doctor. He said I may have colitis, and I need to have a colonoscopy done. I was supposed to visit with a GI Dr yesterday. Doctor was closed because of the blizzard we had. I was reallly counting on talking with him about all of this thats going on. I have cancelled the gallbladder surgery once. I really don't no what else to do?

This is usually a pretty busy message board but it has been a little quieter recently.  However I can respond to what eeyoresday said.  An "internal medicine" doctor is not a specialist in this.  A PCP (primary care physician) can either be a pediatrician, a family medicine doctor, or a internal medicine doctor.  I would not recommend seeing a internal medicine doctor for this.  This is something that should be looked at by a gastroenterologist.

I also had a hidascan and was told my gall bladder was working at 95% and I also had terrible pain when then did the fatty part of the test. I was told by one GI it was normal the other GI said it was overactive. I would have the colonoscopy first...The last thing you want to do is lose body parts for no reason. I am of mom of 4 and cancelled my gallbladder surgery too. I don't go to a GI anymore I found a doctor of internal medicine, he is wonderful. If you don't mind me asking where do you live??? I am in MN and can suggest a great doctor. If you are not close then look up an internal medicine doctor and take your records with you, better yet send them ahead of your appt. I have severe gas and bloating, what concerns me about you is the fevers. Have you been tested for a parasite??? You would be surprised at what they can do! Hope you find the answers you need and I hope you feel better.

Thanks so much :) I was wondering if this is just not a busy message board or something? But it seems there is lots of activity. Thanks for responding :)
