I agree with Mary Magdalene but for one thing - dulcolax is a very harsh stimulant-irritant. The suppositories are very effective but they really make your butt hurt, and they may cause you to strain 'til you bleed. I know from recent-ish experience, so I really don't recommend giving those to your daughter.
Glycerine suppositories on the other hand are the best "chemical crutch" you can get - effective and safe enough that some parents use them aa a potty-training aid. A combnation of fiber, prune juice and suppositories - that's the best way to ensure that your little one's doing a smelly regularly.
... you are doing very well, and i hope the best for you soon.... in these case be carefull with overload the lil girl wit fiber, in one point doesn't work anymore how we think.... make sure she is not allergic with some kind of food, if not , add smashed grains, A LITTLE, alternately DIFFERENTS TYPES,,, ORANGE JUICE WITH PAPAYA FOR ADULTS its good see if safe for her... water its also its an important ally JUST MAKE SURE EVERYTHING ITS IN THE RIGHT MEASURE FOR HER....... and my last words are : get informations and ask the doctor if CHLORELLA / CHLOROPHYLL ITS SAFE FOR YOUR LIL PRINCESS... ITS AN AMAZING THING FOR GI PROBLEMS AN MANY OTHER.... PLEASE LET ME KNOW ABOUT ANY NEWS. THANKS
Have you ever tried rectal suppositories? Fleet makes them. They make an adult size and a child size that would be good for your daughter. If these don't help, you can try Ducalox brand rectal suppositories. Ducolax are just like Fleet in that they are both made out of gycerin, but Ducalox suppositories have a laxative in them. Fleet are pure gycerine. So the Ducalox work better. I don't know if Ducalox makes a child size. You may have to cut them in half to make them thinner, for your daughter. When I first developed chronic constipation, and no one could find the cause, I went on a dairy-free diet of whole, natural foods. I also took Aloe Vera capsules, and drank the aloe Vera juice (try the juice on her before trying the capsules). Eventually, I also needed the Fleet rectal suppositories, but soon switched to Ducolax suppositories because they worked better. That is why I'm suggesting these things. It was a holistic doctor who put me on the Aloe Vera capsules. They worked fantastic! Good luck!
My daughter is now 14 and she has always had a hard time going to the bathroom. When she was little her stooles were so big she clogged the toilet every time she went. would tell her Dr. but they never really believed me.Now she is always constipated it took 4 times before they could dp the colonoscopy, and they have decided she has tortuous colon which means it is very twisted. She also has dilated megacolon, mild chronic nonspecific inflamation and mild melanosis. They have her on pills she takes miralax, benefiber, and cod liver oil. That works for about 3 months and then she is in trouble again. Her Dr. really isnt very helpful she has missed alot of school. Take your daughter to a GI Dr. Try giving her mineral oil that helps it slide out better, also have you tried the miralax you can buy it over the counter. Good Luck
I'm so sorry she is suffering so. The poor child. I would increase her intake of whole grains, i.e. whole wheat bread, whole wheat noodles, brown rice, oatmeal, etc. You can also try giving her Aloe Vera. I have had chronic conspitation for years and the first thing I tried was Aloe Vera capsules (not tablets, she won't break them down) and Aloe Vera Juice (George's brand tastes like water). Aloe Vera is not a laxative, but it will help the bowels to move. When I first started taking it (a holistic doctor put me on it) I had to take it at night AND in the morning. You'll have to play with it to find a right dosage for her. I would also stop with the fiber gummies. The fiber is good, but the gummie part can be constipating for some. Also, sooooo many people are constipated when they eat dairy. I would definitely take her off of it. Switch to soy milk instead of cow's milk. And go to the Whole Foods Market to find a whole grain cold cereal that children like, if you don't already have one. And by all means, take her to a Gastroenterologist. Find out if the cause is physical. Good luck!
