Hi,
I've been experiencing constant burping daily for almost 3 months now. I must burp nearly 100 times per day. It starts as soon as I wake in the morning and happens mostly upon eating or drinking (even water) but can also happen upon movement such as walking or running. Since the burping started, my stools have had a consistent yellow hue and are soft. I don't have constipation or much bloating and my appetite is strong.
I first visited by GP 3 months ago and was put on Losec for a one month period as I showed symptoms of acid reflux or GERD. During this period, I had no change in my symptoms. So after my medication ended I returned to my GP. This time he put me on a stronger medication PPI's (Protium) for yet another month. Again, my symptoms remained. At this stage my GP booked me in to see a GI specialist for both an Ultrasound and Upper Endoscopy. Both results were clear and nothing unusual showed up in my stomach, gallbladder or pancreas. The GI specialist did however put me on Motilium for 1 month but didn't tell me why.
I am now half through this course of medication and again my symptoms remain unchanged. I don't know what else to do. My GP has ran out of ideas and told me that burping is harmless and that I should try to ignore it. This is impossible as it happens so frequently that I find it hard to converse without having to stop and burp every few moments. Something has to be causing this. I would consider my diet to be good. I am young (mid 20's) and have no other known medical problems.
Hopefully someone can explain what might be causing this.
Thanks.
