Stomach cramps/bloating

I started with pain in my left side on Sunday and by Monday I had stomach cramps. I managed to get through the day but since then I have been crippled with stomach and bowel pain. I feel as if my entire lower body is in spasm and my stomach is very bloated. I thought it was food poisoning but I haven't been sick, I don't have diarrhoea and I have no temperature. My GP examined me and I don't have a urine infection. He has prescribed Colofac and although I am a little better the pain is still quite debillitating. I have been able to go to the toilet but it is very painful. I have never suffered from IBS before. My friend has suggested I should double up on the medication but am unsure whether I should do that? or go back to the doctor? I get married in two weeks in a very tight dress....and don't want to feel like this.

Any advice you give me would be much appreciated

Kind regards

Kerry

Hi there

Thanks for your comment. I did go back to the doctor who referred me to A&E for an x-ray to rule out any underlying problem. A&E sent me home and told me to take painkillers! No one examined me properly and they just said they would write to my GP to refer me for a scan. This would of course have taken weeks.
For a few days I felt better then started to feel very unwell. I went back to my GP who did an internal exam which was incredibly painful. He was very concerned and helped me get a scan that afternoon (paid privately) and they found a 6cm * 4cm "mass" which had been pressing on my bladder/bowel. I was put on the NHS emergency list and had surgery the NEXT day. Luckily the histology is clear and I am now on the road to recovery.  I'm just glad my GP was so thorough.
