To poster about SALIVARY GLANDS .. (who treats them) ...

The answer I got on the thyroid board is suggestive to try an ENT as first choice.

Here is the thread.

Hope this helps as many on that board have issues from the "neck up" and have experience with all the glands in that area.

Thank you so much.

A little history if I may,  please ....

Last summer I underwent an upper endoscopy, multiple biopsies, x-ray with barium, esophageal manometry, and was also prescribed Aciphex and then Nexium.

The G.I.  who presumed that I  'had difficulty swallowing'  even after I insisted that I just keep  'spitting'  finally determined that  "your evaluation has been completly negative".

I was prescribed  'trazodone'  for it's side effect of dry mouth.  I am not depressed so why add insult to injury?    Needless to say I did not take it.

I was reffered to an E.N.T. who prescribed fexofenadine hcl (allegra)  and rhinocort aqua for "chronic rhinitis" and "cough".   My sinuses were slightly blocked but  what cough?

The E.N.T wanted me to have a 'CT facial sinuses' but all the medication that he prescribed did, was make my sinuses feel more blocked and did absolutely nothing for the excessive salivation.

It has been a long road and I am so very tired.  I get maybe 4 hours sleep at night and have very busy days.  I really really need to have a doctor who is specific to the problem.

I will go to the thyroid board with the hope of more answers.

Again thank you so much.

ps;  sometimes there are blood spots in the saliva - the saliva is foamy at times and clear as water sometimes.

I am afraid the this untreated condition of 'hypersalivation' will lead (sadly) to other complications (exhaustion) is left untreated.
