Turkey rhubarb.

I had turkey rhubarb recommended to me for my severe constipation problem which is working wonderfully.  My question is, is it safe to take this on a continual basis as recommended by the supplier of this remedy?  As it is now I do not take the supplement three times daily as recommended by them to have three BM's daily.  I am happy to have one a day which is wonderful compared to my usual routine which is normally once maybe every three days or so, my regimen is taking two pills at bedtime which they recommended can be taken up to two pills three times a day.  I am concerned about my bowels becoming lazy on this regimen of turkey rhubarb, yet when I stop taking them my bowels go back to their normal once every three days routine.  I am at a loss here, have tried everything, believe me everything else, extra fiber, Miralax, Dulcolax, ExLax, prune juice all with different unsatisfactory results.  The turkey rhubarb works for me and I am happy with the results, but want to take this in a safe manner.  Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Here's something you can take every day for life!
My  mom has had constipation for over 50 yrs. She struggles daily. but now, not for two years!
I discovered what long term pain patients used to treat constipation for the drug use they have to endure.
Here's the recipe!
1 pound figs
1 pound prunes
1 pound raisins
4 oz senna tea or tea leaves
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
Boil the tea with about 2 quarts water. Steep it for 15 minutes till dark and rich in color.
remove leaves or bags by straining.
Add dried fruit and other ingredients with just enough tea to cover the fruit by two inches.
Mild boil about 10-15 minutes until fruit becomes soft. More tea may be added . You want the tea about one inch over the fruit when done.
Cool a bit off the heat . Pour in blender. Whip into paste.
If you dehydrated it, you would have fruit roll ups!
It  tastes pretty good and can be put on toast etc.,... or eaten by the spoonful.
It will last in your freezer up to 9 months.
CAREFUL! a tablespoon is pretty strong! Start easy...you might get the trots.

If you use the dehydrated figs, remember to trim the stems off first!@@@!!!!
They have a nasty way of poking the mouth when in the fruit paste!
And of course, the prunes are seedless!

No, it is not safe to take for long periods of time. Rhubarb contains components that are similar in their action to a stimulant laxative. So like other stimulant products, it's said that the intestinal tract will become 'lazy' over time and not work on it's own.

In addition, one of the components - anthraquinone - tends to 'stain' the cells of the colon and in any colonoscopies, a 'blackish' stain (melanis coli)  will be seen - a dead give away to a doc that you're using stimulants.
