Why do I always feel like farting?

When I'm in class sitting down I always feel like farting. Then I begin to panick that the students around can smell it that is when it gets worser. I feel like im always panicking when i sit down because i know whats going to happen. If I ask the teacher to go to the restroom I take a fart but when the relieve is only temporary the feel of wanting to take fart comes back. Also I don't really go to the restroom because I'm afraid that when I get up the smell of fart wmovers around. It's been going on for about a year.what do you guys think. This problem has really brought my self esteem down.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!

Well, without a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Flatulence could occur secondary to stress, aerophagia, gastroesophageal reflux, malabsorption syndromes,  lactose intolerance, GI infections/ parasitic infestations, increased dietary intake of oligosaccharides, dairy products beans, lentils, onions, garlic, scallions, leeks, turnips, rutabagas, radishes, sweet potatoes, potatoes, cashews, oats, wheat, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage etc. You could start by making changes in your diet. If this does not seem to help, I would suggest consulting a gastroenterologist for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
