abdominal pain, diarrhea and constipation

I am a 37 year old female.  I'm about 15 lbs overweight.  About 2 weeks ago I started experiencing indigestion and left and right side abdominal pain. The pain was worse when lying on my side.  That has since subsided I know get the pain after eating it's on my right side and also my left side under my breast bone. I also have pain in my pelvic are on both sides with diarrhea and  constipation.   Abdominal ultrasound was normal, upper endoscopy and bloodwork elevated.. ESR level is 83.  I have a family history of gallstones. My mother had hers removed out last year.  My sister and aunt did as well.   The doctor who did my endoscopy said I would need my gallbladder out based on where the pain is located and family history.  I am not sure if it is even my gallbladder since the pain is all over and I have constipation and diarrhea.   Does this sound like I may have a problem with my colon?  I am concerned about colon cancer, IBS.  Any advice would be appreciated.

I would recommend talking to your doctor about the possibility that this is your gallbladder.  Your ESR is pretty high, and it probably needs to be further looked into.

Thank you for responding.  I had a colonoscopy done yesterday which was normal.  GI doctor said I have IBS.  I have some weight loss but not much.  Anyway, I know IBS does not cause and elevated ESR.  Mine is 83.. not sure if I should continue testing and what not.  Maybe check my ESR level in a month or so.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  It could be your gallbladder and I recommend you get more testing done to figure out if the problem is your gallbladder.  However if your ultrasound was normal, it is unlikly that you have gallstones.
