Has anything come around with what is going on with you? I have been in pain for almost 4 years and the doctors know I have a choledochal cyst and my symptoms are getting worse but all they can say is we don't know whats wrong. I have also had doctors tell me its in my head or my depression and sent me back to my shrink who was upset because he knows that is not the case. He has watched me lost almost 80 pounds over the course of all these issue. If you took a look at my posting you would see. I hope you are having better luck than I. Let me know what happens, thank you.
The Roux-en-Y is one of the forms of 'bypass' surgery, but it's also used for other purposes. If you google Roux-en-Y you should be able to find some very good descriptions - with pictures - of the procedure.
Anastomosis means joining the 'end' of one thing to the 'end' of another thing.
Hi,
Can you gell me what a Roux en y is, and anastomosis.
Thanks very much for the help.
It's something you need to talk over more fully with your doc. The treatment of choice for (choledochal) cysts is complete excision of the cyst with construction of a biliary-enteric anastomosis to restore 'contact' with the gastrointestinal tract. And that usually means having something like a Roux-en-Y procedule done. Evidently don't don't often try to drain the cysts or do a partial resection because it exposes patients to increased risks of cholangitis, pancreatitis, and cholangiocarcinoma.
