ercp and still sick, please help

I had an ercp 2 weeks ago to clean out sludge from my bile duct.  I already had my gallbladder removed about 5 years ago, also filled with sludge.  I have had severe naseau, all antinaseau agents provide no relief and have lost 25 lbs.  I am still sick and don't know what to do.  I went back to the GI doc and he said it might take some time for my system to adjust but it doesn't make any sense to me, I didn't have any problems like this after my gallbaldder surgery, why would this be different now as far as my system getting used to the bile?  I live in a relatively small town (Roanoke, VA) and I went to my primary care doc and asked for a second opinion today and she said there is only one other GI practice in town and she is not affiliated with their practice so she couldn't even set up an appointment.  She said she might recommend going to the University of VA Medical Center 2 hours away and going to their ER.  I have read some scary stuff about complications from this proceedure and don't know what to do.  I had an EGD, Xrays and CT scan prior to the ERCP and a colonoscopy after it.  The hospital only had a closed MRI and I freaked out and couldn't complete it.  Any advice would be appreciated, I don't know how much longer I can go on like this.

I am sorry you feel so bad, perhaps the University Hospital may be a good thing, is it a teaching hospital as they are good here in CA and trust me the Docs here arent too clever in diagnosing stomach Isssues,if you are in pain go to the ER then you would get immediate relief , I have had a Gall Bladder Attack a few weeks ago it was the worst pain I am doing everything with diet and Natural Remedies now.Good luck, maybe someone else will post better infromation for you. let us know how you do.

Spacey, you need to be seen by a GI person who knows something about postcholecystectomy problems - and unfortuantely most docs don't seem to have a lot of experience with it.

That ERCP that you had done should have included a manometry component. Did it? And if it did, what were the pressure readings found to be? Did they stent you after the ERCP? Have you had both your liver and pancreatic enzyme levels checked since the ERCP?

There can be some very difficult problems that can crop up long after (or sometimes shortly after) GB surgery. And it sounds like you may be facing some of those problems. When something like that happens, the best way of handling things is to head for the largest teaching hospital or university affiliated hospital in your area that specializes in biliary issues, and find someone who is familiar with SOD - sphincter of Oddi dysfunction.
