thanks for the information. but what i dont get is why they would put me on this medicine if their re gonna take me off it. then what is gonna happen with my gastroparesis? im just going to get sick again?
The manufacturer's information includes the following: "Do not take Reglan in larger amounts than recommended, or for longer than 3 months. High doses or long-term use of metoclopramide may cause tremors or other uncontrollable muscle movements, especially in older women. Stop using Reglan and call your doctor at once if you have tremors or uncontrolled muscle movements, fever, stiff muscles, confusion, sweating, fast or uneven heartbeats, rapid breathing, depressed mood, thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself, hallucinations, anxiety, agitation, seizure, or jaundice (yellowing of your skin or eyes)."
The 'tremors or other uncontrollable muscle movements' that are mentioned in the literature can become permanent if a person isn't careful. So I'd suggest you follow the doc's recommendation. If you stop taking the med at the first sign of any problems, there should be no long-term damage.
