severe digestive problems

I am 28 years old. I have been having IBS symptoms for the past 6 years. In the past six months, they have gotten worse and are now accompanied by swelling and pain in my joints. I went for a bunch of tests and it was determined that my liver function is now abnormal ( the bilirubin count is extremely high). I am going for more tests to determine the cause of this problem, but am wondering if everything I have been experiencing is related to this. I basically cannot eat anything without experiencing pain, which is mostly on the right side of my abdomen. I also have severe distention following most meals (even small ones) and gas that I cannot pass. I also have extreme fatigue and ocassional dizziness. I also have had intermittent constipation and diarrhea over the past 6 years that comes and goes. I have citrucel every night, and occasionally Miralax and Mylanta.

I was wondering if the fact that I have had all these problems for so long might have caused something else. My GE has mentioned things like Crohn's, Colitis and a bunch of other things. I was wondering if anyone has experienced symptoms like mine and how to treat it. It has been six years so I have basically tried everything from food diary to anti anxiety meds to colon cleanse products and nothing seems to alleviate my pain.

Thanks.

I agree that it's not normal.  I ignored similar symptoms and finally discovered I had gallstones.  Have you had an abdominal ultrasound?  If you don't have stones, maybe you need a HIDA scan to see if your gallbladder is functioning.  I hope it is something like that, rather than something worse with your liver.

I have had similar problems over the past seven. My problems came during and got worse after pregnacy seven years ago. I have had every test . Nothing the doctors say. It's just a gastric problems. I have a endocrinologist, he told me he will get to the bottom of it, because it is abnormal to be this sick with no answers. He thinks it is a vitimin deffiency. That my body is not absorbing and getting enough . He has me on a high does of vitimin D and takes blood test ever two months. He said give it a few months. It has been two. Still problems. I must admit they do not last as long. I am usually sick one or two day now. Rather than the week in the past. I am afraid to eat most foods.
