really need help for my boyfriend

My boyfriend has been dealing with weird stomach issues for the past few months. He doesn't have insurance and refuses to pay for a dr out of pocket. But it starts in the morning...he'll wake up and his stomach will burn and he'll end up vomiting from it. He'll then have 3-4 bowel movements that day that are loose. This doesn't happen all the time...last time he vomited was a couple months ago but it happened again today. He ends up feeling fine by midday. He frequently has loose watery urgent stools though. Any ideas as to what could be ailing him? I bought him prevacid to try to help control the acid. His diet isn't the greatest either...yesterday he drank whiskey and beer all day then ate a large meal of leftovers before going to bed. He woke up in the middle of the night and chugged a glass of juice. Could this all be a result of acid reflux? I must also note that he is a smoker.

Heartburn daily and loose frequent stools at least 3 times a week. He's starting the prevacid tonight and I'm going to try and get him eating healthier.

His major complaints are heartburn, acid in his throat and the diarrhea.

I would recommend first having him eat a healthy diet including fruits and vegetables along with plenty of water, and no alcohol.  If that doesn't help the problem, then he probably needs to see a doctor.  What problems does he have every day?
