sick

Hi, for three days I have had watery bright yellow diarrea, intense stomach pain, headache, and I haven't been able to eat anything, and can barely drink liquids. The pain is intense, it feels like there's a knot in my intestines, I feel really weak. I'm drinking electrolytes as much as I can, and I have regular medication that when I take it it makes the pain worse. Should I go to the ER or try to ride it out?

Thank you, you were absolutely right, it subsided I finally went to the hospital and got some antibiotics, I'm mostly recovered now, I've never felt that bad before I thought I was going to die lol

Hi there!

It would not be necessary to go to the ER. This is likely to be a viral gastroenteritis which should subside on its own in 5-10 days. You may continue with the commercially available oral rehydration solution to compensate for the fluid lost. If at any time you feel dizzy or see blood in stools or the symptoms do not seem better in a week; consider an evaluation by a primary care physician.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
