swelling gallbladder and liver

recently I had an mri for my back but it showed a mass which in turn turned out to be an enlarged gallbladder. I had an ultrasound and no gallstones were detected . The also detected that my liver is slightly swollen. I have always had digestive issues which have gotten worst in the last year. I've lost 35 pounds in the last year without trying which led me to get a blood test about 4 months ago. all enzymes and functions came back fine. I go to a general surgeon this week to get a more substantial answer but its frustrating since doctors are afraid to tell you what it might be. I prepared for the worst but hoping for the best. I would just like to know if anyone out there has any ideas. I'm not asking for a diagnosis but everything on the net just says gallstones..... and I dont't have any!! any ideas or personal stories would be welcome. Thanks. I am 47 years old never beeb pregnant and don't drink.

Hi,

I had my gallbladder removed earlier this year. While I was found to have gallstones, I wanted to share what my surgeon said. He told me after sugery that there had been a lot of "sludge" in my gallbladder. I also had a "fatty liver". Not sure how those things relate, or what exactly it means. Just something for you to ask the surgeon about as you could still have a bad gallbladder but no actual stones present. Good luck!!
