Your mind is spinning out of control with "what if" and "is it possible" scenarios. None of what you say makes any difference in my opinion or advice. Your irrational obsession with HIV in this situation is probably due entirely to your emotional reaction to a sexual choice you regret. Your test results PROVE that you did not catch HIV. There are no possible exceptions. See a doctor to work out the actual cause of your symptoms, but forget HIV.
That will be all for this thread. There is no information you can provide that would change my opinion or advice, so I will have no further comments.
My apologies for the antsyness.
I thought that there were doctors online. I assumed that someone was watching.
Mind you my anxiety has completely taken over my logic and I feel terrified and all thoughts of worst case scenario's.
Your answer was more than sufficient and helped me.
But the odd part in this is, if lets say peripheral neuropathy was an ARS symptom. Wouldn't I have produced antigen/antibodies and tested indeterminate or positive?
I just cant understand why this neuropathy comes back. I have had all the tests Diabetes, MRI the works. I really do hope that it is anxiety related. But the thing that keeps bringing me back is this. There was something produced by the Mayo Clinic that burning hands and feet are a primary sign of HIV infection and to be quite honest its scares the living **** out of me.
Here you have drs lab specialists saying that the 4th Gen test can catch HIV infection as early as 21 days, and like you said 6th week is conclusive.
So where does this story end, I have never ever experienced this type of burning sensations before.
I honestly don't know what to do anymore. Can I shut the door on HIV and clear my conscience and get on with it, or do I retest again. I'm between a rock and a hard place.
Again my apologies if my sob story has come out in this post but I'm overly concerned with clarity about the matter in my own mind.
Do these 2 tests satisfy your medical opinion that there is no chance I have HIV and if needed (I would be more than happy to send you a copy of the the test results).
Your response will be much appreciated at a time of your convenience.
Again my apologies I made an error assuming someone was online at the time.
Huh? You're antsy because there was no reply after half an hour? As it is, you had extraordinarily fast service. The moderators are not standing by 24/7; MedHelp standard on the professionally moderated forums is for a reply within 24 hours.
Welcome to the forum.
You had brief but accurate replies on the community forum. HIV is rarely if ever transmitted by oral sex. One estimate by CDC is that if the oral partner is infected, a penile partner in fellatio may have a risk of 1 in 20,000. That's equivalent to receiving oral once daily by infected persons for 55 years before transmission might be likely.
Second, your symptoms are not suggestive of HIV. Peripheral neuropathy can be an early sign of overt AIDS, but it is rarely if ever a symptom of early HIV infection.
Third and most important, test results always overrule exposure history and symptoms. Your doctors are correct: your negative 4th generation test at 6 weeks is conclusive, proving a) you did not catch HIV and b) HIV is not a possible cause of any symptoms you have.
Finally, even if you had HIV, you could not have infected your partner with the exposures described. But you don't have HIV, so it's not an issue. Her symptoms don't sound suspicious for HIV anyway.
So no worries, you don't have HIV and can stop worrying about it. Do not have any more HIV tests.
