I'll accept your statement that this will be your final questions. It will be my final answers as well.
1, Yes, you should consider your test results as proof that you did not get HIV.
2. No, that you urinated an hour before would not invalidate your test results. Know that your chalmydial infection was cured.
Take care

Dr. Hook,
If I may ask one last follow up question.
I completed my annual check up on April 12th (70th day post CSW exposure.
My HIV testing history is
6 Week Rapid Test - Negative
10 Week Lab Based HIV blood test - Negative
1.) Based on these results I can completely rule out HIV from the CSW correct?
My chamydia history is
March 28th - Me and my girlfriend are treated with 2 pink pills
April 5th - The 8th day post treatment me and my gf have sex for the first time (unprotected)
April 12 - Repeat chlamydia urine test (results were negative)
I was not expecting a repeat urine test on 4/12 so I urinated when I woke up at about 8:30 and then at approximately 9:30 I was asked to provide the urine sample for the repeat chlamydia test. It was the first stream I provided but I am somewhat concerned that I might have messed up the test by urinated an hour prior to giving the sample.
2.) Could it be possible this is a false negative or can I be confident I have been effectively cured of chlamydia.
As I stated above this will be my final post so I thank you in advance for all your help and advice during this difficult time. Thank you
The pink pills were most probably a medication called azithromycin which is a recommended therapy for chlamydial infection. two of these pills, given at the same time is the right therapy.
The other symptoms do not raise concern for me about HIV. IF you wish to repeat the test for your own peace of mind, please do so but I have no doubt that they will be negative.
Take care. EWH
Dr. Hook,
I did repeat Chlamydia testing on 3/20 with my PCP. However I later found out my doctors were out of the office until today 4/1. I just received a call that my test did in fact come back positive.
In the meantime, last week 3/28 me and my girlfriend went back to Planned Parenthood for treatment instead of waiting for my repeat test results. We both took 2 rather large pink pills, I do not know what the name of the medication was. Does that seem like sufficient treatment?
My girlfriend swears she has had no other partners in the past 6 years and its pretty hurt by my actions with the stripper on 2/1.
I have to believe something went wrong with the CSW, I guess the condom must have failed me?
Just a quick mention of possibile symptoms of HIV (or possibly another STD?) For the last almost 6-7 weeks after sleep one or both of my hands have a tingling numb feeling which goes away in about a minute. It did stop for a few days a week ago but seemed to now come back. Then last week my ear (one or both, but never at the same time) felt clogged, like I needed to pop them but couldnt. It does seem to be better now though. Do these raise any concern? Do I need to test for syphilis? I mentioned to my PCP and he said no (I didnt mention possible symptoms to him).
I know I have a 6 week negative HIV rapid test, but I am still pretty nervous about this.
Thanks for your time
I look forward to hearing the reuslts of your repeat test. EWH
Thank you Dr. Hook for your help.
Just to clarify one thing the oral sex with the CSW was condom protected. She put the condom on me with her mouth and then proceeded to give me oral sex for a minute or two. Her mouth never came in contact with my bare penis. Then the same condom was used for vaginal.
I did have another urine test for chlamydia done yesterday with my Primary Doctor. I am hoping the one I took at Planned Parenthood was incorrect.
Anyway, thanks again for your words and this wonderful forum. I do appreciate it.
You do not need an oral test. I mentioned oral chlamydia because there is a tiny chance that you acquired chlmydia through your receipt of oral sex. What you need is repeat chlamydia testing to find out if you even have chlamydia.
I explained that if your condom had failed, there would be no question about this. No reason to repeat this.
Any blood test for HIV obtained more than 8 weeks after an exposure will be definitive. I am confident that yours will be negative. EWH
Thank you Doctor Hook. I figured since I was concerned again with HIV I would post a new posting fee to post in the correct forum.
I am a little confused on your number 2 response in regards to chlamydia in the mouth and oral testing. I never had an oral test or never performed oral on the CSW. I received oral and had vaginal sex with the CSW with the condom. My test at Planned Parenthood was a urine test. I also went to see my primary physician today and he had me do another urine test.
The reason I am now freaking out about HIV is with this positive Chlamydia test it leads me to believe I did have condom failure and was exposed.
I am due to go back to the doctor on April 12 for an annual physical and he said he would also have blood drawn for HIV and other STD's. (10 weeks post exposure) That can be consider conclusive for HIV correct.
Thanks again
Had your condom failed you would have known.
Welcome to this Forum. You could have continued this as part of your earlier post. Irrespective I have several comments:
1. As Teak indicates, there is no evidence that your condom failed. When condoms fail they break wide open leaving no doubt that they failed. Condoms do not lead "just a little".
2. Chlamydia is very rarely present in the mouth. it is so rare that oral testing is not routinely recommended but given your circumstances, this may have something to do with your recent infection.
3. Chlamydia is much, much more easily transmitted than HIV. Estimates are that chlamydia is transmitted from infected women to uninfected men in about 20% of exposures. In contrast HIV is transmitted in about 0.05% of exposures (once in about 2000 exposures).
4. Your negative test is strong evidence, beyond the statistical improbability of infection. At 6 weeks a standard HIV antibody test detects over 95% of recent infections.
Bottom line, I would not worry about HIV. the risk for infection is very, very low. I hope my comments help. EWH
