Even with the skin break down you describe the risk fo rHIV remains negligible. I would not worry. EWH
Thanks much. I will not go for pep treatment. just to clarify - the bruises and red underlying worn out skin is due to fungal eczema over last couple months on the scrotum. So is a bit deep into the skin and had little bleeding a week ago but not recently... is that still safe?
Welcome to the Forum. Many of our clients ask questions about potential exposures to menstrual blood. This reflects a misunderstanding on their part. The amount of HIV present in menstrual blood is typically no greater, and sometimes less than the amount of virus present in an infected person’s genital secretions. In your case you do not know that your partner has HIV and it is statistically unlikely that she does and your intercourse was condom protected. Thus your exposure was protected and safe. There certainly is no need for PEP, based on what you describe. That you may have a rash or cuts on your scrotum does not change my assessment, I hope this comment is helpful. EWH
