wisdom tooth

Hi Doctor,

i would like to enquire if i had a wisdom tooth extraction about 1 and the 1/2 months ago, and sitch removal 3 weeks ago and when i see my wound in the mirror, it there is still a hole on the extracted tooth portion and it looks sore, however it is no longer bleeding. As the tooth is at the back i could not see clearly, it seems like the hole of the extracted tooth need some time for the gum to grow a layer back

Does it make me more susceptible to the hiv virus if i ingest blood accidently, should i take any precaution in my daily life when i am eating or drinking

There is no risk of HIV as a result of you having had a wisdom tooth extracted.  Minutes or at most an hour or two after your wisdom tooth was extracted the wound in your mouth had healed to the point where you were not at any increased risk for HIV, This healing takes place long before you can see  it and the fact that you can still se the place where the tooth was extracted does not change this.  Similarly, no risk at all when the stitch was removed .No increase in susceptibility at all.

I reviewed our exchange of a few days ago and have looked at your other exchanges in the HIV Prevention community.  It is clear that your OCD and concerns about getting HIV through your mouth are more a manifestation of your OCD than any scientifically proven risk.  You need to stop worrying about getting HIV through oral exposures and get help with your OCD.  I say this only out of concern for you.

Finally, as a reminder, I note that his is your second post to our forms in a month.  Once this thread is over, you are not permitted to post additional questions for at least six months. EWH
