At Risk?

When I was talking to a guy, he splashed his saliva (only a drop)into mymouth. If he had a bit bleeding in his mouth (such as tooth bleeding),will I be risk to HIV? Do I need to test? Thanks

Also, that last post was not an attempt to make light of HIV, but merely to hammer in the sheer lack of risk in this situation. I agree that HIV is a serious situation and its transmission should not be encouraged. However, I needed to enunciate that there was no risk here.

Just a disclaimer for those who are easily offended/impressionable

if it happens?
You'll probably make millions from the press release, be heralded as a significant anomaly in HIV transmission, and probably triple the efforts working toward a vaccine/cure

But it's not going to happen.
So stop worrying, seriously.

So I should be fine? It will not transmit in this way?

You can not get HIV from kissing someone let along someone getting some saliva in your mouth.  Now if they were bleeding profusely from the mouth and you were trying to resuscitate them with mouth to mouth and you had cuts in your mouth I would look into it.

read what I wrote above. Saliva deactivates HIV. That includes blood dissolved in saliva. Besides, the mouth is not a hospitable location for infection to take place.

Nope, you're fine.
Saliva is not infectious, mainly because saliva has lots of lovely proteins and enzymes that deactivate HIV.
