How dumb can I be???? Condoms don't protect anything

I was horny met a girl who I found out has escorted in the past. I figured I would be straight if I just wear a condom. One week later I test positive for herpes, then I find out that you can get hiv/aids from microtears around the uncovered part of the penis. I swear I never heard of these things. I can't sleep, eat or think straight. My herpes test was 1.6 which is low, but I'm not holding out for a false positive. I've come to accept that, but there is no way I can come to terms with Hiv/aids. If I can just get past this, I think i'll join the priesthood or just stay away from women for the rest of my life. I'm only 24, but I mean it. I never thought in a million years I could get an std while wearing a condom. Its like I can feel something eating at my immune system. My lower back is sore and my kidneys are tender.

did u have unprotected oral, and contracted herpes?

I am not doubting u I am just trying to learn.  I thout too, that if u wear a condom, u can not contract herpes.  i read wear it is theoritically possible to contract syphillis even with condoms begins it does not protect the entire penis.  you know, the base of the shaft area is wide open....

Sorry man about the herpes....   i think u will be ok about the hiv though....

I just had protected vaginal intercourse. I've had herpes 1 probably since I was a kid, cuz I've always had blisters. I tested positive for hsv 1 and had something like 10.6 but hsv2 was 1.6. So I retested and I'm still waiting on those results but I'm not holding out for a false positive anymore. I've lost hope when it comes to that. I'm thinking the 1.6 will go up as time passes. I took that test a week after the encounter. I haven't had a good sleep yet. She claims she doesn't have it, but there is nowhere else I could have gotten it. I've been going crazy.

Tested positive for herpes by blood test? If so, then FOR SURE you didn't get it from this encounter; you wouldn't have a positive result that soon. Besides, honestly, it is more likely to be a false positive. If you have HSV1, that can skew the results for HSV2--and anything under a 3 or 3.5 (I don't remember which) may actually be negative.

That nonsense about HIV through "microtears" in condoms is nonsense. Where on earth did you hear that? If you wore a condom correctly, i.e. put it on before beginning intercourse, and it didn't break, then you were at no risk of HIV.

You are totally overreacting. In fact, I'm concerned at the intensity of your feelings around this non-issue. First, I think you'd benefit from a little reading on realistic risks of STD transmission. Read Dr. Handsfield's boards (but his replies only). I think you might also benefit from a few session with a counselor. If you're going to freak out like this every time you have sex, or are even remotely sincere about wanting to avoid sex because of your irrational fears of STDs, you are seriously destined for a very lonely life.

big dummy...

Ok here is some perspective....  Lets say she did have herpes HSV2 and gave it to you, along the hilt of the staff of your penis, because the condom does not protect that area...

Yea, according to the net that can happen.  OK lets say it did. Does that mean you get an automatic transmission of HIV.  NO, actually it does not.

Hear is the deal, if she did have Herpes, yes the odds of her carrying HIV are higher...   but that does not increase the odds of you contracting herpes higher than 1:2000 WITHOUT A CONDOM & your odds aganst getting HIV with a condom on, are then droped dramaticlly if not down to zero.

You had sex, your penis at the time had no herpatic lessions, because at that time you were HV2 free. So your penis is in its general healthy state. No open wounds etc. You used a condom, no HIV could penetrate your penis via the tip and the urethra....

Micro tears....   Hey I don't want to argue, but I think that is pushing things a little. Herpes apparently has a skin on skin transmittion, but HIV does not.

My point is, I don't think you need to be too concerned about HIV... and it sounds like the jourey is still out on HIV2.

Do a little research I think you will find things to be better than what you are thinking.

good luck

Hey, I am going through the same thing, (minus the herpes scare) yes with a condom too....   so don't feel so bad. May we get over this!

When a girl admits she use to escort and it wasn't that long ago, anyone would be worried.

I took the blood test a week after the encounter, I thought it was in my head then they told me I was positive for both. I used tstd.org.

HSV1 was 10.6, wasn't suprised I've had cold sores since I was a kid but when they told me I had HSv2 I was pissed off. Then I became depressed as hell. The HSV 2 was only 1.6 but I figure that I just took the test too early. She swears she never had it, but this herpes stuff is too common, there was no other place I could have gotten it. I never have been tested before, but this was the only girl who I would consider a big risk. I don't have like a long list, so that should make it easier. I have already retested this time with Kaiser, so if its higher than 1.6 the next time I know its her.

I don't mean to sound like a punk, but an escort is basically a hooker, that smore of where my frustration comes from. She use to be on that craigslist site, it's no telling what she has.

what do you mean I wouldn't have a result that soon? I thought a week was more than enough time for it to get into your system?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^  I need this question  answered. It seemed like the tstd counselor was telling me the same thing. But I was in the middle of a nervous breakdown. That I should have waited a couple of weeks, but I can't play around with this kind of thing.

No. About four weeks is the soonest you could test positive via blood test, but most people take around four months.

I don't know, there was no where else I could have got it from, and since the test I have felt a burn before I urinate, but it feels regular when I urinate.

I have taken myself through so many twist and turns that at this point I have to have it.

Is there a site I can go to to tell me how long it takes for it to enter the system?
