Horribly Panicked

I posted back in August about a safe sex encounter I had.  The problem is now, that I was just diagnosed with thrush (I was given clotrimazole to take 5 times a day for 10 days). I burnt the roof of my mouth with coffee about 3 weeks ago, then after the burn incident I went to get a full range of STD testing and the doctor gave my doxyclyine to take while I awaited the results (all negative, HIV not done again), so I stopped the doxycyline.  I then started getting a sinus infection and started taking Levotrin 500mg, and then stopped that.

Prior to my safe sex posting, I had unprotected sex 3 times in one night with a guy June 3.  Since my encounter with him, I was tested for HIV twice, once at almost 4 weeks and once close to 8 weeks (a day or two shy, July 28th).

I've been panicked ever since my safe sex episode, thinking the condom broke, even though I don't remember seeing it broken.   I've been going over and over the 'safe sex' night in my head, and then I remembered, I completely forgot about something, I was wrong in my original version.  He did insert his penis in me for 15 seconds or so, before I realized he didn't have a condom on and I pushed him out of me and made him put a condom on.

1) Is it true that thrush is its significance as an hiv symptom is NOT at primary infection?

2) If I had HIV would I have gotten thrush this quickly?

My doctor indicated that thrush doesn't usually appear until much, much later in HIV when the immune system starts weakening down and that it would not appear within a few weeks of the encounter.  He also indicated, that even though he did insert his penis in me, even though a brief time, it was very low risk and that in his opinion I didn't need to be tested at all.  Would you agree?  What are the odds of me coming out of this ok?

I took another HIV test and I should get the results tomorrow, but I'm in a complete panic.  I can't eat or sleep.

Thank you very much for your help, it's greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to see how the thrush treatment was going?  I'm having a heck of a time with mine.  Up until now, I have always been very healthy with no problems.  Not sure why my body can't fight it off. It will not go away.  I was on fluconazle (not sure spelling is correct) and it did not work on now he has me something stronger.  I'm going to have another hiv test next week and that will put me over the 13 week mark. I want so badly to put this to rest.  I'm a little nervious.  Take that back, I'm a lot nervious.

Good luck

I responsed to your original post in August and had asked about what your Dr. had diagonsed for your situation in your mouth.  As I had mentioned, I had oral to oral contact and cunnilingus with a female (I'm male) and had experenced a burning sensation in my mouth and on my tongue a few days after. My original Dr. did hiv,hsv-2 and gon.,test, all neg (4.5 Weeks after exposure). The Dr. put me on antibotics for possible gon. infection, it made the burning worse.
I did a second hiv test 7.5 weeks after (neg). Mouth and tongue continued to get worse.  Went to ENT who said I had Thrush.  I was a little freaked out at first.  He had told me that he sees normal, health adults with thrush on a regular basis. If hiv was the cause, I would have tested positive.  He had mentioned that I could have gotten the infection from the encounter I described, more likely from the oral to oral contact and not to worry about hiv.
Just a note:  It had been a b**** to get rid of.  I'v been on medication for two week and had to go back for additional medication.

Good news!  I just got my test results back, NEGATIVE.

That makes it 16+ weeks since my unprotected encounter and
7+ weeks since my protected (with 15 seconds of unprotected sex) encounter.

Now, I just have to get this trush cleared up!

Thanks to all that replied.

A SPECIAL thanks to you Dr. H, for continuing to answer the same questions time and time again from all of the worry worts that post on here.  The time and energy you put in this board is greatly appreciate, at least by me.

Thanks again.

Yeast infections (thrush) of the mouth sometimes occur in healthy people without immune deficiency.  I had it myself once.  Your blood test results prove you don't have HIV and the latest test also will be negative.
