A few questions on infection and ARS

Hello. 27 gay man here.

Posible risks: I have had multiple oral encounters, unprotected, with a new partner. Insertive and receptive. His status is unknown to me. No anal sex.

Is this ARS?

* three days ago,  oral canker sores. Repeated occurrences of this during the past two years or so (also when I was a kid).

* Last night,  started sore throat.

* today during the day,  high fever, including right now. 101.8 was the highest recorded.

* Headache (assuming is part of the fever).

* Some stomach discomfort (nausea,  can't say if I have diarrhea).

Does this sound like ARS?

Thank you

Well for one ars symptoms would all start at the same time not one followed by another a few days later.  Rash, fever, sore throat are called the HIV triad because they are the most common and typical symptoms. You have no rash. If a person has a high risk situation and experiences these three symptoms testing would be strongly recommended. You did not have a high risk which makes your symptoms sound like a cold/anxiety. That's the problem with HIV symptoms , a lot of them are symptoms of the everyday bug. So rest assured that your fine. You had no risk.

Thank you guys.

I understand what you are saying and you are quite right I'm a bit anxious (and that's an understatement).

One last question, even when symptoms can't and shouldn't be used to diagnose, can you tell me why those doesn't sound like ARS? From what I've read they do. Just trying to learn a bit more.

Thank you again

ARS cannot be used to diagnose HIV, most HIV positive people reported ARS like the worst flu ever, other reported something like a mild flu or cold and others said they didn't feel sick at all.  What you describe doesn't sound like the common ARS description.

However remember that you should never use ARS for HIV diagnosis, oral sex is a negligible risk, so if you haven't had any other exposures you don't need to be tested.

Any insight?

How can ANY symptom be indicative of something you don't have ???

Thank you.

As we know, oral carries some risk.

In any case, Id like to ask if the symptoms are indicative of ARS. So far no rash, but the combination of canker sores, then a few days later the sore throat, then fever (with fatigue and headache).

Fever seems to have stopped, but malaise and sore throat are around. Been taking diclofenac for it.

Developed some coughing. Any insight?

hi... let me try to help..
the oral encounters that youve had carries no risk of hiv infection. you can be sure of that.

symptoms of ARS mimic every other day to day ailments. thats why diagnosis is done by testing and not by relying on symptoms.

as oral sex was the only 'exposure' that youve had, you can be confident that the symptoms that youre experiencing have nothing to do with HIV.

and no... you dont need testing as well.

take care and stay safe.
Agreed with malbat
