Need an answer

Ok, here is my question. In Feb, 2006 I had unprotected sex with a college student. A few days later someone said she had "slept with a guy who had hiv" I got nervous so I asked the girl and she laughed it off and said it never happened.. She was even pregnant and about to give birth when this was supposed to have taken place. She said she was tested during her pregnancy and then after the birth of her son six weeks later. She offered to get tested again, but I said no and didn't worry about it, and I just forgot about it really. Well now for some reason it's came back to my mind, I'm married now and haven't had a sexual encounter with anyone since her (before my wife) and now my wife. Would I have shown some signs by now if I was hiv+ or should I get tested? I've lost contact with the girl, so I can't talk to her, and I know my odds are slim but are they enough to worry?

Stopping after the first two sentences:  Unless you describe other risks besides condom-protected vaginal sex, you are not at measurable risk of HIV.

Now, having looked at the rest of your comments:  The direct report of your partner obviously is more reliable than a non-attributed rumor.  There is almost no chance your partner had HIV.  And even if she had it, the condom was completely protecttive.

I'm glad you are unable to locate your partner.  You have pressed her hard enough and it would be inappropriate to challenge her yet again.  I say just forget the whole thing.  But if you're going to remain nervous despite this reassurance, it's fine with me if you get tested.  Indeed, why are you on this forum asking the question?  Just go get tested to put it out of your mind.

Not that your opinion will change but jwhitx said he had unprotected sex. Your response was to protected sex.

Cybercondriac is correct; I misread the question.  But it makes no difference in my opinion or advice.
