HIV risk?

Hi all,

Today I had a screening done at work where a company
Comes in and checks cholesterol and glucose levels. They were changing gloves between people and throwing something out but it seemed like it was the swab that was used to collect the blood after the finger prick was done, and it appeared they were re-using the little device?

If they really were let's say re-using the lancet and poking multiple people is there a risk for HIV or hepatitis? Thank you in advance.

Lancets are similar to a small scalpel but with a double-edged blade or needle and are one use only. Once the plunger is depressed, the blade (or needle) is retracted into the barrel and cannot be used again. No reputable company or professional phlebotomist would ever reuse a sharp or a lancet. Please relax!
Thanke :) I really appreciate your answer. In fact I called the company and asked and they were more than happy to describe how they are used!
I hope they were able to allay all your fears.
