Am I at any hiv risk? anxiety doesn't leave me

Hi Dr Hunter

I had protected sex with brand new (durex brand) condom with an expensive sexworker in china
1 min oral sex and under 1 min veginal as i was hating what i was doing i stopped it.

tested with antibody antigen 4th generation test at 2 4 6 9 and 13 weeks(88 days) after the exposure and all came back negative. all other std came back negative at 9 weeks and thats where i stopped setting for other std but tested for hep b and c at 12 weeks also which came back negative.During this time i had maybe few times sex unprotected with my wife and she got red eye and after her i got that too can it be related to hiv infection?

When i was in super stressed situation at week 3 and 4 i remember i had swollen lymph nodes and then red eyes and little bit pain in the eyes at week 6.

1- am i at any risk?
2- do i need further testing?people say 6 months on the net and that freaks me out so much
3-i born with strong thalasemia my doctor says but that never has done anything to my buddy or i never took medication for it can that delay it? but as long as i know nothing wrong with my immune system!
4-why people say 6 months?
5-can i have unprotected sex with my wife now?

Sorry for very detailed question.the anxiety doesn't leave me alone. I hope it helps.thanks for great forum.

Regards

Welcome to the Forum.  I'll be pleased to comment.  The exposure you describe did not put  you at risk for STI including HIV.  Condom protected sex is safe sex.  Further, your repeated testing since your exposure proves that you were not infected.  You do not need to worry or to test further, you need to move forward.

In answer to your specific questions:
1- am i at any risk?
No.

2- do i need further testing?people say 6 months on the net and that freaks me out so much
No further testing is needed.

3-i born with strong thalasemia my doctor says but that never has done anything to my buddy or i never took medication for it can that delay it? but as long as i know nothing wrong with my immune system!
No, your thalassemia will not change your susceptibility to infection or your test results.

4-why people say 6 months?
Because they are overly conservative.

5-can i have unprotected sex with my wife now?
Yes.

Please do not worry further.  EWH

Final answer.  I cannot explain while some people are overly conservative.  Some are using older data which are no longer applicable, others are simply scared and ill-informed.  You are not likely to be among those for whom such consevative advice applies.

This thread will need to end now.,  Take care.  eWH

Thanks so much Dr you have helped me to put lots of stress away from last night, But i don't still get why some people are so conservative to say 6 months?
is there any medical reason? or is it logical?
can I be in any categories that meets their conservative list?

that you shaved a few days before your exposure and had genital cuts in no way changes my opinion or advice, nor does blood on the outside of the condom. EWH
