Does anesthesia affect HIV Antibody Test?

Hi,

I went for a bronchoscopy recently and they knocked me out with anesthesia for the procedure. I then had an HIV antibody test a week after the bronchoscopy.  Would the anesthesia they gave me for the bronchoscopy affect the HIV antibody test results? Also, does the anesthesia supress the immune system, affecting the HIV antibody test results? Please let me know. Its always on my mind.

Still no risk. You would need a deep gash to have a risk- and if that were the case you would be seeking treatment in an emergency room - you wouldn't be fingering someone with a cut that deep.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. You could have injected a syringe full of HIV infected blood in your vein and you would still be HIV negative- the test proves that you weren't infected. The time for you to move on with your life from this is long past due. Please forget about this and enjoy your life.

hiv can only infect a very few, very specific types of cells. these cells are not found in your finger. if you had a cut on your finger larger enough, open enough and bleeding enough to be a real pathway to cells that hiv CAN infect, believe me, you wouldn't be sticking it into some woman's vagina.

Geez... an "exposure" 1 and a half years ago and you're still making yourself go through this? You were never at risk- period. You're fine!

You never had a risk from masterbating someone.

What was my exposure? I fingered a girl at a massage parlor in March of 2009.
